How to Create an Automated Affiliate Newsletter Without Code

Build a no-code affiliate newsletter workflow with signup capture, subscriber tagging, content review, and scheduled delivery—while checking provider policies, disclosures, and unsubscribe requirements.

You can build an automated affiliate newsletter without writing code by connecting a signup form, an email platform, and a no-code automation tool, then adding an editorial review step before each send. The workflow is straightforward; the important checks are whether your email provider permits your affiliate links, whether the program allows those links in email, and whether your disclosures and unsubscribe controls are clear.

How the no-code workflow fits together

A newsletter automation has four parts: signup capture, subscriber organization, content preparation, and delivery. An automation connector can pass signups or selected content between services and trigger actions such as adding a contact to an audience. What you can connect and automate depends on the services and account plans you choose.

Zapier describes workflows for gathering and compiling newsletter content, and its Mailchimp integration supports using a new-subscriber event to trigger actions such as adding people to audiences or creating campaigns. Those are product capabilities, not evidence that automation improves revenue or engagement. See Zapier’s newsletter automation overview and its Mailchimp integration documentation.

Build the newsletter, step by step

  1. Capture signups with consent

Use a signup form connected directly to your email platform or to an automation connector. Tell subscribers what kind of email they will receive and how often you expect to send it. Keep reliable records of signups and unsubscribes, and do not add people who have not opted in.

  2. Organize subscribers

Use tags or interest fields to separate audiences, such as readers interested in a particular topic. Connect the signup event to the action that adds or updates a subscriber in the appropriate audience. Check the integration’s current plan requirements: Mailchimp’s Zapier help page, updated October 1, 2026, says an active Mailchimp plan, including its free plan, is required for that connection; requirements can change.

  3. Collect content into a draft

Send selected links or notes from a content source, document, or editorial queue into a draft or review queue. Treat automation as a collection aid, not an editor: review summaries, claims, product details, and destination pages before anything is sent.

  4. Add relevant recommendations and disclosures

Recommend products or services because they fit the reader’s interests. Place a plain-language commission disclosure close to each recommendation or affiliate link, so readers encounter it together with the link. For U.S. guidance on wording and placement, see the FTC’s endorsement guidance.

  5. Schedule or trigger delivery

Use your email platform’s campaign or automation controls to schedule a reviewed newsletter or send it after a defined trigger. Before activation, test the signup flow, audience tagging, every link, mobile layout, and unsubscribe behavior.

  6. Monitor and maintain the workflow

Review list growth and campaign engagement in your chosen tools. Periodically check that integrations still work, links still lead to the intended pages, and the email provider and affiliate program still permit your implementation. Do not treat automation as a guarantee of clicks, commissions, or revenue.

Check email-provider and affiliate-program rules first

Mailchimp’s affiliate-link distinction

Mailchimp’s guidance says affiliate links are generally acceptable when the destination is not denylisted and the email’s main message is not centered around affiliate links. Its Terms of Use separately prohibit affiliate marketing as a business model. Mailchimp may stop an email and review or suspend an account if it detects a denylisted URL. Read Mailchimp’s current affiliate-link guidance and applicable terms before building around affiliate promotions; permission to include some affiliate links is not blanket approval for every affiliate-focused newsletter.

Amazon Associates and newsletter placement

Amazon’s Associates Operating Agreement, updated October 15, 2025, describes monetization through a qualifying “Site” using tagged Special Links. It also requires the statement “As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.” on a Site or another location where Amazon authorizes display or other use of Program Content. The agreement and disclosure guidance do not establish that a newsletter email itself qualifies as an authorized placement. Check the current Amazon Associates Operating Agreement and Amazon’s affiliate-link disclosure guidance for your account, region, and intended placement before sending Amazon links by email.

Make the affiliate disclosure easy to notice

The FTC says disclosures should be clear and conspicuous and close to the recommendation. It cautions that readers may not understand what “affiliate link” means; its guidance says “Paid link” placed right next to an affiliate link should adequately disclose the link’s nature. A more explanatory newsletter line can say, “I may earn a commission if you buy through this link.” Keep the disclosure where readers can see it with the recommendation, rather than relying only on a footer or a general disclosure elsewhere. The FTC guidance is U.S.-specific; check requirements for other jurisdictions separately.

U.S. commercial email requirements

For commercial email in the United States, the FTC’s CAN-SPAM business guide requires a valid physical postal address and a clear, conspicuous way to opt out. You must honor opt-out requests within 10 business days, and the opt-out mechanism must remain able to process requests for at least 30 days after the message is sent. Outsourcing email delivery does not remove the sender’s legal responsibility. Whether a particular message is commercial depends on its primary purpose. These are U.S. requirements, not a complete compliance checklist for other countries. Consult the FTC’s CAN-SPAM compliance guide.

Choose tools by workflow fit, not by a universal ranking

The sources establish selected Zapier and Mailchimp capabilities, not a neutral comparison of all newsletter platforms or their current pricing. Compare candidate services against the requirements that matter to your workflow:

  • Automation: Can the tools respond to form submissions, apply tags, create or schedule campaigns, and collect content from your chosen sources?
  • Affiliate rules: Are affiliate links permitted, can they be the main content, and how does the provider handle flagged destinations?
  • List controls: Can you preserve signup records, segment subscribers, process unsubscribes, and suppress opted-out contacts?
  • Operational fit: Are the needed integrations available on your plans, and can you comfortably review and edit drafts before sending?
  • Compliance controls: Can the sender include a postal address and a clear unsubscribe mechanism? Can it reliably process opt-outs for the jurisdictions you serve?

Or skip the browser setup

If your newsletter workflow also needs website screenshots—for example, to document a page or include a visual in a draft—ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. Its one-request API can return a screenshot or PDF; cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets are removed before capture, and bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed. An MCP server lets AI agents use screenshot tools, and 1,000 screenshots a month are free with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots. This is an optional capture tool, not a newsletter automation platform.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I automate every step of an affiliate newsletter?

No-code tools can connect signup, subscriber, content, and campaign steps, but a person should review claims, recommendations, disclosures, and destinations before sending.

Does the FTC’s U.S. email guidance cover subscribers in every country?

No. The CAN-SPAM requirements described here are U.S.-specific; check the applicable privacy, consent, and email-marketing rules for other jurisdictions.
