Create the page in WordPress, then configure the form or checkout that should send visitors to it. A regular WordPress page gives you a place to show a confirmation; it does not automatically appear after a form submission or purchase. For WooCommerce, a custom order-confirmation page is a separate, often extension-based setup.
Choose the kind of thank-you page you need
A general thank-you page is a regular WordPress Page that can confirm a contact form, newsletter signup, or other action. A WooCommerce thank-you page is part of the order-completion experience and may need to preserve order-specific information.

| Approach | What triggers it | What to preserve | Typical setup |
|---|---|---|---|
| Regular WordPress page | A visitor opens the page, or a form sends them there after submission. | A clear confirmation and the next step relevant to the action. | Create a page in WordPress; configure the form’s confirmation or redirect separately. |
| WooCommerce custom order-confirmation flow | A customer completes checkout; extension rules may determine the destination. | Order details and purchase-specific instructions the customer needs. | Create a WordPress page, then configure a compatible WooCommerce extension if conditional destinations are needed. |
Create a standard thank-you page
- Open the page editor. In the WordPress admin area, go to Pages > Add New. WordPress documents this as the standard page-creation route. See Create pages.
- Add a descriptive title. For example, use “Thank you” for a general confirmation or “Thanks for contacting us” for a contact form.
- Build the content with blocks. Add a heading and paragraph, then use other blocks such as a list, image, or link if they help visitors understand what to do next. The block editor has been WordPress’s default editor since WordPress 5.0; see WordPress Block Editor.
- Review the page settings and URL. Choose a useful slug, such as thank-you, if you want a concise address. WordPress documents changing the URL in page settings or through Quick Edit.
- Preview and publish. Check the page, then select Publish when it is ready. The official page-creation guide covers the standard workflow.
If your site uses a block theme, another route is Appearance > Editor, then Pages. That Pages view in the Site Editor is available only with an active block theme; it can create a draft for you to edit. It is an alternative to, not a replacement for, Pages > Add New. See Site Editor Pages.

- Contact form: “Thanks — your message has been received.” Add a response timeframe only if you can meet it.
- Signup: Confirm the signup and explain whether the visitor should look for a confirmation email or take another step.
- Download or other request: Give the promised link or explain how the visitor will receive it.
A short link back to useful content or onward to the next task can help visitors continue. For an order confirmation, do not replace purchase-specific details or instructions with only a generic thank-you message.
Send form submitters to the page
Creating and publishing a page does not connect it to a form. In the form plugin, look for its confirmation, success-message, or redirect settings and select the thank-you page there. The exact labels and steps vary by plugin, so follow that plugin’s current documentation rather than assuming one WordPress-wide setting exists. If the form should show an inline confirmation instead of redirecting, configure that behavior in the form itself.

Set up a custom WooCommerce thank-you page
WooCommerce-specific destinations and conditions are extension features, not part of the general WordPress page workflow. First create the destination page using the standard steps above. Then choose an extension whose rules match what the store needs, and check its current documentation because settings and interfaces can change.

Destination by product or variation
The Custom Thank You Pages extension documents custom destinations in product or variation settings as well as a global setting. Its documented priority values sort in ascending order. When a variable product and one of its variations both specify destinations, the variation destination takes precedence.

Conditional rules and templates
Custom Thank You & Success Page documents rules that can use conditions such as customer role and products or categories in the cart. Destinations can include custom WordPress pages, built-in or custom templates, and external URLs; its documentation also describes building a page with a page builder and selecting it in a rule.
Plugin-specific redirects
The WordPress.org listing for Advanced Redirect Thank You for WooCommerce describes redirects assigned globally or by product or payment gateway, plus an order-details shortcode. Those are features described for that plugin, not guarantees for WooCommerce generally. Before installing any extension, check its current compatibility, maintenance, reviews, and support information.

Test the complete visitor journey
- Preview the page on desktop and mobile. Make sure the message still makes sense without depending on visual styling alone.
- Submit the actual form and confirm that its configured success behavior appears or sends the visitor to the intended page.
- For a store, place a test order and verify the destination and the order information customers need to see.
- Check that the published page is not unintentionally private, password-protected, or blocked by site configuration.
- Do not ask visitors to submit sensitive information again on a public confirmation page.
