You can create a Samsung account from a Samsung device’s Settings or through Samsung’s account website; the setup instructions reviewed do not require you to own or buy a Samsung product. You’ll typically provide an email address and password and verify your email. Some regional sign-up flows also ask for a phone number and SMS verification.
Choose how to create your account
The account is a shared sign-in for Samsung apps and services, not a separate account tier tied to a particular device. If you already have an account, sign in rather than creating another one.

Create an account from a Samsung device
Connect to Wi-Fi or mobile data, then follow the labels shown on your device. Samsung’s UK guide lists the following route, while Ireland’s regional guide gives a newer path with additional account-management screens. Samsung UK and Ireland setup guidance

- Depending on the device and software, tap Cloud and accounts or Accounts and backup. If shown, open Accounts or Manage accounts.
- Tap Add account, then choose Samsung account.
- Choose the option to create an account. In the Ireland guide, the path continues through Forgot password or don’t have an account? and then Create account.
- Review and accept the terms you agree to, then enter the requested details. These can include your email address, password, name and date of birth. The Ireland flow also asks for a phone number.
- Complete the verification prompts. You may need to verify your email using a link; in the Ireland flow, SMS verification is also included.
Your email address is normally your Samsung account ID. Exact labels and verification requirements can differ by region, device and software generation, so use the current on-screen prompts rather than relying on a menu path that does not match your device.

Register through Samsung’s website
Open Samsung’s account page and choose the account-creation option. Enter the requested information and complete the verification steps displayed on screen. Samsung’s older Singapore guide describes registration through an agreement, account details and email-code verification, but its January 2021 instructions may not match today’s exact screens. Follow the current website flow.
If you already registered and are trying to access your account on a computer, Samsung UK says desktop sign-in uses your email and password, followed by a two-step verification code.

What a Samsung account lets you do
Samsung UK describes the account as a way to access a range of Samsung apps and services and manage devices. The services available to you depend on country, device and software; an account does not guarantee that every feature is available in every region.

- Find devices: Samsung Find or Find My Mobile can help locate supported devices linked to your account.
- Back up and sync: Samsung Cloud offers backup, restore and synchronization features where supported.
- Connect smart-home products: SmartThings can control supported appliances, TVs, speakers and wearables.
- Get support: Samsung Members provides support and community features.
- Access services and content: Samsung’s US support information also lists Samsung Health, Samsung Wallet and Galaxy Store. Availability depends on location and compatible devices.
- Register eligible products: Samsung UK says product registration can provide tailored product information, warranty-period details and quicker technical support. Its eligibility exclusions include memory and storage devices, accessories and components.
- Use regional retail benefits: Samsung Rewards is among the account-linked benefits described in Samsung UK’s retail context; benefits and eligibility can differ by country.

Protect and recover your account
Turn on two-step verification
Two-step verification adds a further check during sign-in. Samsung UK lists text message, authenticator app, notification and backup code as available methods. Keep access to the method you select, and store any backup code securely. The options shown to you may depend on your region and account setup.
Find your ID or reset a password
If you cannot remember your account ID or password, use Find ID or Reset password on Samsung’s sign-in page and follow the email instructions. If you no longer have access to the email address or verification number, use Samsung’s current recovery guidance for your region; recovery steps and waiting times can vary.

Remove an account from a device or delete it
Removing your Samsung account through device Settings disconnects it from that device. Deleting the account is a separate account-level action handled through account settings. Choose the action that matches what you intend to do.

Registration requirements are not identical worldwide. Samsung’s Singapore support page says age restrictions depend on local laws and gives under 13 as the Singapore restriction; that figure should not be treated as a global minimum age. Phone verification is likewise part of the Ireland guide, not an established universal requirement. Check the prompts and Samsung support information for your country.
