Create the registration form first, copy its attendee-facing response link, then turn that URL into a QR code. The code takes people to the form; it does not collect registrations or validate tickets by itself. For Google Forms, QR creation is a separate step from sharing the form.
1. Build the registration form
In Google Forms, create a new form and add the questions you need for the event, such as attendee name and any event-specific details. Google’s form customization guidance recommends making a registration form for people to sign up, then reviewing replies in the form’s Responses tab.

Choose response settings to fit your event. Google Forms supports options such as collecting email addresses, allowing respondents to edit submissions, restricting responses by domain, and limiting responses. You can also customize the confirmation message shown after submission. These settings do not, by themselves, guarantee automatic seat or capacity management.

Share the respondent-facing form URL—the one an attendee can open and use to submit a response. Do not use the form-editing or management URL. Google’s Forms cheat sheet covers sharing a form and managing its responses.

3. Turn the form URL into a QR code
Google’s reviewed Forms guidance explains link sharing, not a built-in QR-code generator. To make the code, paste the attendee-facing URL into a QR-code generator, or use Chrome’s QR control as described in the American Inns of Court registration guide. Save or download the generated QR image.
Before distributing it, scan the code with a phone and check that it opens the right form and allows a test response. This catches common mistakes such as encoding the editing link or using a form that respondents cannot access.

4. Display the code and keep a plain-link option
For an in-person event, put the QR image somewhere attendees can easily see it, such as an entrance sign or a screen. The American Inns of Court guide describes displaying a large code in multiple locations. For a virtual event, place it on a slide, but also share the form URL in chat: someone attending on a phone may not be able to scan a code displayed on that same phone.

5. Review the registrations
Check the form’s Responses tab to see incoming submissions. Google Forms can also link responses to Google Sheets for further organization; Google documents these response-management options in its Forms cheat sheet. Use the response data to manage registrations according to your event’s process.

When you need QR ticket check-in instead
A shared registration QR code sends every attendee to the same form. It does not create a unique ticket for each person and does not validate admission at the door. Those are separate jobs: an add-on listed in the Google Workspace Marketplace describes generating a unique e-ticket QR code per form response for scanning at an event. That listing describes the vendor’s offered function; it is not independent performance testing.

If you want QR sharing to be part of the form-publishing workflow, Jotform’s guide describes creating a form, sharing it by QR code, and reviewing submissions in Jotform Tables. Its article also discusses attendance tracking with Google Forms, but the QR-generation step for Google Forms remains separate in the workflow described above. Compare services based on where you want to publish the form and manage responses, and whether you need individual ticket validation; the available information does not establish an overall platform ranking.
