Create the design as an image in a wallpaper generator or graphics editor, save it to your phone, then apply it with Android’s wallpaper picker. The “glass arc” is a visual treatment—not a standard control in Android’s wallpaper settings—so the editor needs to provide curved shapes and gradient controls. The workflow below is general; Google’s documented menu path is specifically for Pixel phones.
What makes a wallpaper look like a glass arc?
A glass-arc design combines a curved band with color that shifts across the image or the band itself. A translucent fill, soft edge highlight, and restrained blur can suggest glass. These are design choices, not settings prescribed by Android or a tested recipe for a particular editor.

For a clean result, start with a simple background and a broad arc. Use a small palette, keep the brightest highlight along one edge, and avoid layering so much blur or transparency that the curve disappears. Check that the design leaves enough quiet space for the clock and app icons.

Android’s GradientDrawable API reference includes arc and gradient concepts for developers, including linear and radial gradients. It marks the ARC constant as added in version 36.1. That API documentation does not mean Android’s built-in wallpaper picker has controls for drawing an arc.

Create and export the wallpaper
- Start with a portrait canvas. Choose a portrait canvas suited to the phone you intend to use. The available sources do not establish one export dimension for every Android screen, so use the editor’s device preview or your phone’s wallpaper preview to check the crop.
- Set the background and gradient. Pick a background color, then apply a gradient across the canvas or within the arc, depending on the editor’s controls.
- Add the curved band. Draw or mask a broad arc so it reads clearly at phone-screen size. Position it with the clock and icons in mind.
- Suggest glass sparingly. Add a translucent fill or subtle edge highlight; use blur only if the editor supports it and the curve remains legible. These are visual suggestions rather than tested app-specific settings.
- Preview and save. Inspect the portrait preview for cropping and check whether text and icons will remain readable over the design. Export or save the result as an image where your phone can access it, such as the gallery if the editor offers that option.
Set the image as wallpaper on Android
Menu names vary by manufacturer and software version. If the labels below do not match your phone, open its wallpaper picker and choose the saved image there.

- Long-press an empty area of the Home screen and open Wallpaper & style.
- Choose the wallpaper option or flow for selecting an image, then pick the saved design and review its preview.
- Select Lock screen or Home screen, then tap Set wallpaper.
Some customization features in Google’s guide depend on the Pixel model. Other Android manufacturers may use different labels or steps.
Other Android phones
Use the device’s wallpaper picker to select the exported image, adjust its positioning if offered, preview it, and apply it to the Home screen, Lock screen, or both as your phone allows. The exact path and available choices depend on the manufacturer and software version.
