Create a desktop shortcut by entering devmgmt.msc in the Windows shortcut wizard. If that command does not work on Windows 2000, try the full path to the file in your Windows installation folder.

Create the desktop shortcut

  1. Right-click an empty area of the desktop and choose New > Shortcut.

If the command does not work on Windows 2000

Use the full path to devmgmt.msc in the shortcut location field. One historical Windows 2000 example is C:WINNTsystem32devmgmt.msc, but the Windows directory can differ between installations. Check the folder used on your computer and adjust the path accordingly, as noted in this archived Windows 2000 discussion.
