You can’t make a Google Drive folder itself broadcast on YouTube. Instead, use Drive to supply authorized video files to a playlist, play that playlist through an encoder that stays running, and send the encoder’s live feed to YouTube Live. A local setup needs a computer and internet connection that remain available; a cloud service can handle continuous playback without relying on your home computer.
What you need
- A YouTube channel that is verified and has had no live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time live-stream activation may take time, so check readiness before launch. See YouTube’s live-streaming requirements.
- Permission to access and download each video in the Drive folder.
- A playlist or playback process that can loop the videos, plus an encoder that can send the feed to YouTube Live.
- For a local setup, a computer and network connection that can remain on and sustain the chosen upload bitrate.
Drive file access and YouTube ingestion are separate stages: Drive provides files, while an encoder sends a live feed to YouTube. YouTube documents encoder-based streaming, not a native option that broadcasts a Drive folder URL indefinitely.

Set up a local 24/7 stream
1. Check that your channel can go live
Open YouTube Studio and check that live streaming is available for your channel. Confirm verification and that the channel has not had a live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. If this is your first live stream, allow time for activation before scheduling a launch.

2. Retrieve the Drive videos
For a manual setup, download the videos you intend to broadcast and keep them somewhere the playback process can access continuously. For an automated workflow, use the Google Drive API to list the folder’s files and download the binary video content with authorized access. The API’s files.list method returns file records; account for pagination so large folders are not silently cut off. Google documents binary downloads with alt=media; Google Workspace documents may require export rather than a binary download. See Download and export files, Method: files.list, and Search for files and folders.

- 【Package Content & Note】 1x HD Audio Capture Card , 1x USB 3.0 to USB C Adapter (A-side 3.0, B-side 2.0), 1x user manual. Please note that you need to restart the OBS Studio software after the audio setup is complete, otherwise it will result in no sound output. When using an adapter, if the device is recognized as USB 2.0, try using the other side with the USB-C port. Simply flip the capture card and reconnect it to be recognized as USB 3.0
Check that the account used by the workflow can download each file. Sharing or download restrictions can prevent retrieval. Keeping a working copy available to the playback system means a temporary Drive access problem does not immediately remove the video from the queue.
3. Build and check the playlist
Choose the playback order and configure the player or encoder workflow to repeat the playlist. Test each file in the actual playback chain before going live: the documented Drive API workflow does not guarantee that an arbitrary video format in a folder will work with every player or encoder. Check that transitions do not create unwanted gaps, and listen for audio dropouts or abrupt level changes.

4. Create the YouTube live event and connect the encoder
- In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule a live stream.
- Copy the event’s stream key and server or ingestion settings into your encoder. Treat the key as a password: anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to your stream.
- Choose RTMPS when the encoder supports it. YouTube recommends RTMPS, a secure extension to RTMP; see its encoder settings and bitrate guidance.
- Configure the encoder’s video and audio output, then start the playlist and encoder so YouTube receives the feed.
5. Choose a sustainable video setting
Use a constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval, and a resolution and frame rate the connection can sustain continuously. YouTube advises not exceeding a four-second keyframe interval. Its recommended H.264 ingest bitrates include:
| Output target | YouTube-recommended H.264 bitrate |
|---|---|
| 240p–720p at 30 fps | 4 Mbps |
| 720p at 60 fps | 6 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 10 Mbps |
| 1080p at 60 fps | 12 Mbps |
These are encoder ingest recommendations, not guarantees of the quality viewers will receive. Leave headroom above the selected video bitrate for audio and normal network variation; a connection that only reaches the target intermittently is not a safe choice for a continuous stream. YouTube lists H.264, H.265, or AV1 video and AAC or MP3 audio among supported encoder formats. Available options depend on the encoder you use.

6. Preview, launch, and monitor
Test the feed before the planned start, preview it in Live Control Room, and check YouTube’s stream-health indicators. During a 24/7 broadcast, monitor more than the initial connection: watch for playlist completion without looping, unavailable files, silent or frozen playback, network interruptions, and an encoder process that has stopped. Set alerts or arrange checks so someone can respond. YouTube’s live checklist is event-oriented; round-the-clock monitoring and restart handling are operational measures you need to provide.

A local encoder depends on the computer, playback process, and internet connection remaining available. Configure the player or operating system to recover from a restart where possible, and decide how you will detect and restart a stopped encoder. YouTube’s documentation does not establish uninterrupted end-to-end uptime for a user-built Drive-to-encoder workflow, so test recovery rather than assuming a loop will run forever.

Drive changes also need a policy: decide whether newly added or replaced files should enter the playlist automatically, and how you will confirm that the encoder has access to them. For automated retrieval, preserve authorization and handle pagination. Avoid relying on a live Drive download as the only copy the playlist can play.

Common problems and fixes
- YouTube will not let the channel go live: check channel verification, recent live-stream restrictions, and whether first-time activation has completed.
- The encoder connects but the video does not appear: recheck the selected event, stream key, ingestion settings, and encoder output format. Preview the feed in Live Control Room.
- The stream buffers or loses health: lower resolution, frame rate, or bitrate to a level the connection can sustain; confirm CBR and the two-second keyframe interval.
- A Drive file is missing or cannot be downloaded: verify that the authorized account can access and download it, and check whether it is a binary video or a Workspace document that needs exporting.
- The playlist stops after one pass: enable repeat/loop in the playback workflow and test the end-to-start transition before launch.
- The broadcast stops when nobody is watching the computer: inspect power, sleep, network, and encoder restart settings. A local setup requires those pieces to stay available.
Copyright and YouTube policy checks
Only stream videos you own or are authorized to broadcast. A file being in your Drive does not by itself establish streaming rights. Check music, footage, artwork, and other third-party material, and review YouTube’s live-stream rules and any restrictions that apply to your channel before broadcasting. Repeatedly looping material does not remove copyright obligations or guarantee monetization; assess the channel and content against YouTube’s policies rather than assuming a 24/7 format is eligible.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos, without leaving a computer or home connection running. It is not a direct Google Drive-folder broadcaster: make the videos available for upload, then use the service’s playlist and stream workflow.
- Upload your recording or prepare a playlist.
- Add your YouTube stream key once.
- Go live; StreamNeo loops the uploaded videos from the cloud.
There is no home computer that has to stay on; uploaded video is streamed as made, up to 4K at 60 fps, at one price per slot rather than quality tiers. StreamNeo can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. UPI and cards are available in India, with card checkout worldwide. See plans and pricing, then start your free day.
