To loop a recorded piano lesson on YouTube Live, connect OBS Studio to a YouTube stream, add the lesson video as a Media Source, and enable Loop. For multiple lessons, use OBS’s VLC Video source and turn on Loop Playlist. This repeats the video, but a continuous broadcast still depends on the computer, encoder, internet connection, rights clearance, and monitoring.
Before you set up the stream
Confirm YouTube live access
Your channel must be verified and must not have had livestreaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. YouTube says first-time livestreaming enablement can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before your planned start. See YouTube’s live-streaming requirements.

Check every right in the recording
Make sure you have the rights needed to stream the piano performance, lesson video, sheet-music display, backing track, and any other included material. YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility for necessary rights—including music licensing rights—on the person providing the content: Livestream terms and conditions.
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. A match can lead to a warning, placeholder, interruption, or termination; a strike can also result in termination. If you have permission to use third-party material, the rights owner may still need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. A license by itself does not guarantee that an automated match will not interrupt the stream. Details: Copyright issues with live streams.

Set up a YouTube stream and connect OBS
- Create or select a stream. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create a stream or select one you have already set up. YouTube’s encoder setup guide explains the stream setup.
- Copy the stream URL and key. In the stream’s encoder settings, copy the stream URL and stream key into OBS’s stream settings. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your stream. If it is compromised, reset it in Live Control Room; see Manage live stream settings.
- Set the encoder options. YouTube’s general encoder guidance recommends CBR, supports H.264 video with AAC or MP3 audio, and recommends a two-second keyframe interval that should not exceed four seconds. Resolution and bitrate depend on your video and the upload connection. Use YouTube’s current encoder settings guide for the target quality and test the actual connection rather than assuming a particular bitrate will work.
Make the piano lesson repeat in OBS
Loop one lesson video
- In OBS, add a Media Source to the scene you will use for the stream.
- Select the local lesson video file. OBS lists support for formats including MP4, TS, MOV, FLV, MKV, AVI, GIF, and WebM in its Media Sources documentation.
- Enable Loop in the Media Source properties. When the file reaches its end, OBS starts it again.
- Check that the source is visible in the scene and that its audio is routed to the stream. Listen to the beginning, middle, and end of the recording before broadcasting.
Loop a playlist of lessons
For several recordings, add OBS’s VLC Video source, select the files for the playlist, and enable Loop Playlist. OBS notes that VLC must be installed for this source type to appear. This approach rotates a set of lessons rather than repeating only one recording; it does not by itself schedule individual lessons at specific times.
Test, start, and monitor the broadcast
- Run a representative test. Use the actual lesson files and typical audio and motion. In YouTube Live Control Room, check the preview and stream health before you start the public broadcast.
- Check the watch page. Confirm that viewers can open the stream from your channel and on a mobile device. YouTube’s live-streaming tips recommend testing and checking the viewing experience.
- Start the encoder, then verify YouTube receives it. Watch the preview for the correct video and listen for audible, undistorted piano audio. Follow YouTube’s stream-health messages and confirm the encoder remains connected.
- Keep monitoring during the long run. Check that the lesson advances and loops, audio remains audible, the connection stays live, and the public watch page is accessible. A loop setting only repeats the media file; it does not keep a computer awake, prevent a network outage, or guarantee an unattended broadcast.
Plan for YouTube’s archive limit
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its guidance does not promise a complete archive for a single stream lasting 24 hours or more. If viewers need a reliable full replay, plan shorter broadcast segments or make a separate recording rather than relying on one uninterrupted 24-hour stream. See YouTube’s encoder guide.

Choose between running OBS locally and using the cloud
OBS is a practical do-it-yourself route if you already have a suitable computer and dependable upload connection: it has no separate cloud-streaming service fee, but the computer, OBS, and connection must stay available for the broadcast. A cloud service reduces reliance on a computer at home, but check its current features and terms. YouTube’s encoder guide lists Gyre as a cloud-based tool for prerecorded 24/7 streaming; that listing does not establish its current prices or availability.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo keeps an uploaded video or playlist live on YouTube from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. Upload the lesson, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Each slot supports 24/7 looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers. A slot includes 10 GB of storage, pooled across active slots, and support from the StreamNeo team; the same features apply to every plan, with only the billing length changing. The first day is free with no card, once per account. Plans can be billed by the day, week, month, 6 months, or year, with cancellation any time. UPI and cards are accepted in India; card checkout is available worldwide. For 5 or more slots, contact support.
