Counter Baba by denying her clean angles and choosing short, covered trades. Threadsap can follow her crosshair before bursting, and Feed The Birds can slow and hex targets caught in front of her. Break line of sight, avoid predictable movement, and wait for a threatening ability to be spent before stepping out to trade.
How to play around Threadsap
Threadsap follows Baba’s crosshair before bursting along its path. It deals Spirit damage and steals Spirit; while she holds stolen Spirit, her bullets deal additional Spirit damage. The ability record lists those effects, but does not establish a tested timing window or a reliable dodge pattern. Deadlock Wiki

- Move unpredictably rather than standing still or running in a predictable exposed line as the thread approaches.
- Use cover to interrupt the approach and avoid extending a trade while Baba has stolen Spirit.
- Do not assume the first burst ends the danger: her bullets can carry bonus Spirit damage while she holds stolen Spirit.
Respond to Feed The Birds
Feed The Birds covers targets in front of Baba with bread, applying stacking slow before pigeons bombard and hex the target. Damage and duration increase with the bread count. The ability description does not establish a precise escape window, so prioritize leaving its forward angle or getting behind cover as soon as the channel begins. Baba ability record

- If you are slowed or hexed, avoid committing to a long exposed trade.

Use lane geometry to choose safer trades
Lane-unit position affects where it is safer to farm or attack, so treat the lane as part of your defense rather than taking every available shot. Deadlock mechanics reference

- Farm from a position where lane units and nearby cover help limit Baba’s clean approach angle.
- Let her spend a threatening ability before stepping out for a brief trade.
- Return to cover instead of chasing her through an exposed angle.
What is known about Baba—and what is not
Baba was reported newly playable on October 6, 2026. A third-party hero page recorded base move speed changing from 7.2 to 6.5 and stamina from 3 to 2, but these are early, patch-sensitive values; verify the current game version before relying on them. The same page showed zero tracked matches in its current-patch snapshot, so it does not support a meaningful win-rate claim or counter ranking. Baba hero snapshot
No reliable Baba-specific counter-hero ranking or tested item build is established by the available matchup evidence. That means there is no evidence-backed purchase list to recommend as a proven counter. Build decisions should not be presented as Baba-specific tech until adequate matchup data supports them.
