In the US, Claude Pro costs $20 a month, while Google AI subscriptions start at $4.99 a month and range up to $199.99. Those prices buy different things: Claude emphasizes higher usage and features such as Claude Code, while Google bundles Gemini access with cloud storage and benefits across its products. Both have free options, and neither service’s paid plan should be treated as unlimited.

What Claude Free and paid plans include
Free and Pro for individuals
Anthropic describes Claude Free as a limited-use option for occasional users. Pro is for people who need more use per session and includes priority access, early features and access to Claude Code. Anthropic says usage depends on message length, the length of attached files, the current conversation, and the model or feature being used. Session limits reset every five hours, so Pro is not unlimited. See Anthropic’s Pro plan details for current terms.
#1 Best Overall
A Pro subscription does not pay for API calls made through the Claude Console. Anthropic states: “The Pro plan does not include API usage through the Claude Console.” If you need developer/API access, budget for that separately rather than assuming the chat subscription covers it.
Max for heavier individual use
Anthropic lists Max 5x at $100 per month and Max 20x at $200 per month, describing their capacity relative to Pro. These are higher-capacity individual subscriptions, not a guarantee that every task or model has the same allowance. Check Anthropic’s current plan guide for the applicable limits and terms.
Team for organizations
Claude Team is an organizational subscription rather than an individual-plan upgrade. It requires at least two members and offers centralized billing and administration, identity and access controls, spend controls, workplace connectors, and higher usage capacity. Standard and Premium seats have different usage rules and allowances; a company may mix the two seat types. The listed monthly and annual-billing seat prices are in the table above. See Anthropic’s Team plan guide for current seat-specific terms.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsWhat Google AI subscriptions add to Gemini
Google’s paid plans combine Gemini access with benefits across Google products. Its US page lists Plus, Pro and two Ultra price options, with higher usage levels described relative to Free or Pro. Google also includes cloud storage: the current comparison lists 400 GB for AI Plus and higher amounts for Pro and Ultra configurations. Storage is part of the bundle, not an AI usage capability. Google characterizes the offer as “More storage and Google AI in one subscription.”
Rank #3
The exact models, features and usage limits available under each tier can change, and some benefits depend on country, account or other eligibility terms. Google’s Google AI plans comparison describes plan features and storage; its regional FAQ covers eligibility information. The US prices above should not be assumed to apply in other countries.
Which plan fits your use?
- Choose a free tier first if you use an assistant occasionally and its available allowance is enough. Consider a paid plan when you regularly hit limits or need paid features.
- Compare the limits that affect your work. Claude’s usage varies with session and task characteristics; Google’s access varies by tier and feature. Neither a usage multiplier nor a subscription label means unlimited messages.
- Favor Claude Pro if its specific features matter to you. Anthropic lists Claude Code access, priority access and early features with Pro. Confirm the current plan terms if one of those is the reason you are subscribing.
- Consider Google’s bundle if you will use its storage and app benefits. The subscription may be more valuable if you already need Google cloud storage; compare the bundle rather than treating storage as a measure of Gemini capability.
- Use Claude Team when you need organizational controls. Its administration, identity and access management, connectors, billing and mixed seat options address team needs that an individual subscription does not.
- Keep API spending separate. Claude Pro covers the consumer plan, not API use through the Claude Console. This consumer subscription comparison does not establish API pricing.
Check local pricing and eligibility before subscribing
The comparison is US-specific. Anthropic says local currency, tax treatment and availability vary by region. Google also makes features and eligibility subject to region, age, language and other terms. Outside the US, check the upgrade screen on your own account and the provider’s local plan page; do not convert the US figures and assume that is your price or benefit set.
