For an existing voter in Karnataka, use the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) Form 8 to correct a detail in the electoral roll, shift your registration after moving, request a replacement EPIC, or mark yourself as a person with disability (PwD). You can submit Form 8 online through the ECI Citizen Service Portal and use the portal’s application-status service to follow up. Choose the option that matches your request: a move to a new address is a shifting application, not a correction to an old address.
Choose the right Form 8 option
Form 8 is for an elector who is already enrolled. Select the option that fits what you need to change; address shifting and replacement-card requests have separate instructions from correcting an existing entry.

Correct a detail in your existing voter registration
Choose “Correction of Entries in Existing Electoral Roll” in Form 8. The form allows correction of up to four particulars in one application: name, gender, date of birth or age, relation type, relation name, address, mobile number, and photo. Attach self-attested documentary proof for the claim and identify the evidence in the form. The ECI’s Form 8 guidance instructs applicants to attach a document supporting a requested correction.

For a photo correction, provide a recent, good-quality, unsigned colour passport-size photograph measuring 4.5 × 3.5 cm with a white background, as specified in the ECI guidance.

Update your address after moving
Select “Shifting of Residence” rather than treating a move as a correction to your old address. Apply to the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) for the constituency where your new address is located. Form 8’s shifting section asks for self-attested address proof. Examples listed on the form include:
- An eligible utility bill
- Aadhaar
- A current passbook from a scheduled or nationalized bank, or a post office
- An Indian passport
- Revenue land-ownership records
- A registered rent lease, if you are a tenant
- A registered sale deed, if you own the property
The form allows the address proof to be in your name or, where applicable, a parent’s or spouse’s name; it also refers to an adult child already enrolled at the address. If none of the listed documents is available, the form allows another document to be specified. Check the live Form 8 instructions to confirm the proof that fits your circumstances.

Submit Form 8 online or offline, then track it
- Open the ECI Citizen Service Portal and choose Form 8 or the relevant voter service. The portal also offers application-status tracking.
- Select the correct Form 8 request, enter the details requested, and attach or submit the supporting proof required for that option.
- For a residence shift, direct the application to the ERO for the constituency at your new address. ECI guidance says shifting applications can also be submitted offline to the relevant ERO.
- Keep the acknowledgement or reference details provided after submission and use the portal’s application-status service to check progress.
The portal’s layout and election-period notices can change. Follow any current instruction that applies to your area; this general guide does not replace a live notice or provide a constituency-specific Karnataka ERO address. Use the portal or the relevant ERO/Chief Electoral Officer contact listing to find the right office.

Form 8 includes an option to declare that you cannot furnish Aadhaar because you do not have it. Select that declaration if it applies; do not treat Aadhaar as a compulsory prerequisite for the form.

Replacement EPIC is different from correcting an entry
Use Form 8’s separate replacement-EPIC option if the card itself is lost or damaged. For a lost EPIC, attach a copy of the FIR or police report; for a mutilated card, the form instructs you to return the old EPIC. ECI guidance also says a replacement EPIC may be issued after a correction or an approved shift. A card replacement request is not a substitute for correcting inaccurate information in the electoral roll.
