You can move Anki note content into Notion by exporting it from Anki as plain text, preparing the fields as a CSV, and importing that CSV into Notion as a database. This transfers note content—not Anki’s review schedule or card system—and formatting or media may need cleanup.
What transfers—and what does not
Anki notes contain fields, while card templates use those fields to generate cards. The file-based workflow moves the note fields into Notion; it does not recreate Anki’s review system. The official guides reviewed do not document a native Anki-to-Notion importer or establish that review scheduling, review history, templates, or card behavior transfer.

Anki’s Exporting manual documents plain-text export, and Notion’s import guide documents CSV import. An .apkg package is intended for transferring decks between Anki collections, and Notion’s import guide does not list it as a supported import format.

Choose based on how you plan to use the material in Notion, how much formatting or media it contains, and how much cleanup you are willing to do after import. These are practical choices based on Notion’s documented import formats, not an official recommendation for a particular Anki workflow.

Convert Anki notes to a Notion database
1. Choose the notes to export
In Anki, select the deck or notes you want to move. Remember that a note may generate more than one card from its fields and templates; this procedure is for moving note content, not reproducing every generated card as a working review item.
2. Export notes as plain text
- In Anki, open File > Export.
- Select Notes in Plain Text, then export the chosen notes.
Anki’s text export separates fields with tabs and can include formatting as embedded HTML. Keep the exported file as your source while preparing the import.

3. Prepare a CSV with one note per row
Open the exported text in a spreadsheet or another editor that can preserve tab-separated fields. Make the first row a set of clear column headers, for example Front, Back, Extra, and Tags. Adjust the headers and columns to match the fields in your note type, and keep each note’s fields in separate columns.
Save or export the prepared data as CSV. Check that commas within field values are quoted correctly and that line breaks inside a field remain part of that field rather than becoming new rows. This preparation is a practical conversion step; Notion does not publish a dedicated Anki conversion recipe.
4. Import the CSV into Notion
- On Notion desktop or web, open Settings > Import > CSV, or enter
/csvin a page. - Upload the CSV and choose whether to create a new database or import into an existing one, then select its location.
- Map each CSV column to the appropriate Notion database property and complete the import.
Notion’s documented mapping treats each CSV row as a database item/page and each column as a property. Imports are available on desktop and web, not mobile; file-size limits vary by file type and plan.
5. Test a small sample before importing everything
Import a representative handful of notes first. Check that front and back fields landed in the intended properties, and inspect tags, special characters, line breaks, cloze notation, and embedded HTML. The official documentation does not guarantee how every Anki note type or formatting element will appear in Notion, so use the sample to decide what needs adjusting before a larger import.
6. Check images and audio separately
Anki’s text-export documentation notes that media files need to be present in the collection media folder for text imports. Notion’s guide does not establish that media references in an Anki export will resolve automatically when imported as CSV. Inspect image and audio fields in Notion; upload or reattach files that did not come through in a usable form.
7. Avoid duplicate rows when retrying
Notion says CSV imports add rows rather than updating existing rows. For a clean first attempt, import into a new database. If you retry in a database that already contains imported notes, check for duplicates and remove or reconcile them before continuing.

Notion can import text and Markdown files as pages. That may suit prose-heavy notes better than a database, but it does not by itself turn each note into a structured card record with separate, filterable properties. Choose this route when page structure matters more than sorting fields, and review the resulting pages for formatting and media.
What to expect from the exported file
Anki’s manual says that if you edit the exported file without changing its first field, you can later import it back into Anki and update notes, provided you import it into the same note type. That statement describes a return import into Anki; it is not a guarantee about how Notion will interpret the file.
