For a one-off conversion, use APITemplate.io’s online converter: enter the webpage URL, choose page settings, generate the PDF, and download it before it expires. For automation, send the URL to POST https://rest.apitemplate.io/v2/create-pdf-from-url with your API key in the X-API-KEY header. The API returns a download URL on success in APITemplate’s documented example.

Choose the paper size, orientation, and margins. Review the available options, including print stylesheet behavior, for the page you are converting.

Run the conversion, inspect the generated PDF, and download it. The tool page states a limit of up to 10 PDF documents per hour and says generated PDFs expire after two hours; these are tool-specific published limits and may change.
Automate URL-to-PDF conversion with the REST API
Send a JSON POST request to https://rest.apitemplate.io/v2/create-pdf-from-url. Put your API key in the X-API-KEY header and the page address in the required url field. The settings object is optional. APITemplate says its URL renderer uses headless Chromium, supporting modern CSS and JavaScript, but that does not guarantee identical rendering or perfect pagination for every site.

Use that URL to retrieve the PDF, and check the returned status and response body before treating a request as successful. Keep the API key private; do not expose it in browser-side code or public repositories. Use only URLs you are authorized to convert. The reviewed documentation does not establish support for pages requiring a login or session cookies.

The example values are taken from APITemplate’s URL conversion documentation, not universal recommendations. Check the resulting PDF for page breaks, clipping, missing images, and dynamic content before relying on it.

Pick the APITemplate method that matches your source

APITemplate documents these four methods in its API overview. The best route depends on whether the content is already a page, whether you control the source markup, and whether the layout repeats.
Plan for batches and production workloads
APITemplate’s REST guide says calls are synchronous by default and documents asynchronous generation for large or batch jobs, using a transaction reference and webhook notification. It also publishes constraints of 100 requests per 10 seconds per IP and 100 concurrent synchronous PDF-generation requests per account. These are service operating limits, not general PDF limits; verify the current values and regional endpoints in the REST documentation before sizing a production workload.

Respect request-rate and concurrency limits; queue work rather than sending an uncontrolled burst.

Account for payload size and binary-response constraints if you plan to return file contents rather than use a download URL.

Retry transient failures deliberately, with bounded retries and logging, rather than repeating every failed request immediately.
Troubleshoot common conversion problems
The API rejects the request
Confirm the method is POST, the URL is exactly https://rest.apitemplate.io/v2/create-pdf-from-url, the API key is present in X-API-KEY, and the request body is valid JSON with a url value. Check the response status and error body rather than assuming a failed response contains a PDF.
The page is blank or incomplete
Check that the target is publicly accessible or otherwise authorized and that its content does not depend on an unsupported login or session. Verify that images and other assets load and that content requiring interaction is present without manual browser actions. APITemplate describes Chromium-based rendering, but exact fidelity for every page is not established.

Text, backgrounds, or page breaks look wrong
Adjust paper size, orientation, and the four margins; test print_background if the styling disappears. Inspect the PDF at page boundaries for clipped text and awkward breaks, and use the converter’s available print-style option when appropriate.
The download URL is missing or no longer works
Check that the API response indicates success and includes download_url. For the browser converter, download within the published two-hour expiry window. If an API result is unavailable, inspect the response and current documentation for its retrieval behavior rather than assuming browser-tool expiry rules apply to API output.
Batch jobs are slow or limited
Review current rate, concurrency, payload, and regional endpoint guidance in the REST documentation. Use asynchronous jobs with transaction references and webhooks for suitable large workloads, and pace requests to stay within the service limits.
