On a computer, open the invoice in Chrome, press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux or Command+P on Mac, choose Save as PDF, check the preview, and save. On Android, use More > Share > Print and select Save as PDF. If the invoice is an e-invoice record in an Invoice Registration Portal (IRP), use the portal’s PDF-generation or download option when you need its issued representation.
Choose the right PDF method
- Invoice visible in a browser: Print the rendered webpage to PDF. This is a convenient copy of what the page displays.
- IRP e-invoice record: Prefer the portal’s own print/PDF workflow when you need a PDF of that portal record. The portal may need to generate the file before it is ready to download.
- GSTR-1 e-invoice details: Do not mistake the GST Portal’s details export for an individual invoice PDF; the portal guide describes that export as an Excel file.
Saving a webpage as PDF does not issue, amend, or authenticate the invoice. If authenticity or the issued e-invoice representation matters, retain the original and use the applicable IRP workflow. This distinction follows from Chrome’s general-purpose print feature and IRP guidance on printing from its signed JSON payload.

Save a GST invoice webpage as PDF in Chrome on a computer
- Open the invoice webpage and wait for it to finish loading. Sign in if the issuing website requires it.
- Press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on Mac. You can also open Chrome’s Print command.
- In the printer or destination selector, choose Save as PDF.
- Review the preview and settings. Check the page range, paper size, orientation, margins, scale, and whether headers or footers add unwanted material. The available controls can vary by platform.
- Save the file with a useful name, such as the invoice number and date. Reopen it to confirm that every page and the required content are present.
Google’s Chrome computer help documents the platform shortcuts and print flow. The exact appearance of the print dialog can depend on your operating system and printer setup.
Save it from Chrome on Android
- Open the invoice page in Chrome.
- Tap More > Share > Print.
- Open the printer selector and choose Save as PDF.
- Choose a location on the device and save the file.
These steps are specifically for Chrome on Android; other mobile browsers may have a different menu.

Download a PDF for an IRP e-invoice
If the invoice is available in an IRP portal, look for its print or PDF-generation workflow rather than relying only on a browser printout. IRIS IRP’s help describes selecting records, initiating Print, waiting for PDF-generation status to succeed, and then downloading the PDF. Its guidance also describes locating dashboard records using an acknowledgement (ACK) number or the 64-character IRN. Portal menus can change, so follow the live interface.
IRIS IRP’s FAQ says a seller or buyer can use the signed JSON payload returned by the IRP to print an e-invoice. If you already have that payload, use the applicable portal or authorized workflow; a generic webpage print does not substitute for it.

Check the saved PDF before relying on it
CBIC’s Rule 46 sets out prescribed tax-invoice particulars, including supplier name, address and GSTIN; a consecutive invoice serial number and issue date; recipient details where applicable; goods or services descriptions and value; and tax particulars. The rule contains further requirements, so this is not an exhaustive compliance checklist.

- Check that descriptions, amounts, taxes, and totals are visible and legible.
- Make sure all pages were captured, not just the first screen or page.
- If the original shows an e-invoice QR code or IRN, verify that it remains present and readable.
If the preview cuts off content, adjust scale, margins, or orientation and inspect it again before saving. If the downloaded portal PDF is not ready, wait for the generation status to succeed and retry the download.
