Choose a format for what you need to do

Download a Google Sheet as an Excel file
- Open the spreadsheet in Google Sheets on your computer.
- Select File > Download.
- Choose the Excel format shown in the menu and save the downloaded file.
Google describes Sheets’ download option as the counterpart to Excel’s “Save As,” for downloading a spreadsheet to use in other programs. Save a Google Sheet as a PDF
- Open the spreadsheet and choose File > Print.
- Choose the scope: Workbook for the full spreadsheet, Current sheet for the open tab, or Selected cells for a chosen range.
- Select Next and review the browser’s print flow. Google says Firefox and Safari automatically download a PDF at this step; Chrome opens its print dialog.
- In the print settings, adjust the layout if necessary, then save or print from the browser dialog.

Fit a long or wide table to the PDF
Before saving, check the page breaks and preview. Google’s print settings include controls for margins, headers and footers, orientation, and paper size. Frozen rows or columns can also be repeated on printed pages through Headers & footers. Adjusting these settings can make a multi-page PDF easier to read without changing the spreadsheet itself. Export a Google Sheet as CSV
Google’s Android help says Sheets can export a single sheet as CSV or TSV. CSV is useful for exchanging tabular data, but the documented Android flow does not export every tab together as one CSV. If you need data from several tabs, keep an Excel-format copy or export the sheets separately; exporting tabs separately is a practical workaround, not a separately documented multi-tab feature.

What about CSV on a computer?
The reviewed Google computer instructions do not establish whether desktop CSV export saves the active tab or the whole workbook. Check the format choices in File > Download and open the resulting file to verify its contents if the export’s sheet scope matters.

A spreadsheet owner can restrict whether other people may download, print, or copy a file through its sharing settings. If an export or print option is unavailable, ask the owner or your administrator to check the access settings. Those restrictions are one documented possibility, not necessarily the only reason an action may be missing. Google’s Sheets collaboration help
