A defensible gas optimization audit of the Venus Core Pool needs a specific network, code revision, transaction profile, and comparable baseline. The available Venus documentation identifies the relevant codebase and a gas-reporting entry point, but it does not provide executed benchmarks or findings for this titled audit. No gas savings or bottleneck can therefore be attributed to it.
What this audit can—and cannot—establish
The Venus Core Pool codebase is VenusProtocol/venus-protocol. Venus’s repository describes a lending and borrowing protocol whose vToken markets support supplying, redeeming, borrowing, and repaying, alongside a Comptroller risk model and interest-rate models. Those facts establish the system context, not the outcome of a gas audit.

No target commit, contracts, transaction traces, benchmark baseline, executed gas report, before-and-after comparison, or findings are identified for this audit. In practical terms, the documentation supports explaining how an audit could be scoped and measured; it does not support naming an optimization, claiming a bottleneck, or quantifying a saving.

Venus’s vToken reference documents BNB Chain Core Pool markets and distinguishes them from Core Pools on several other networks, which use a different BeaconProxy VToken architecture from the isolated-pools repository. An audit conclusion should identify the network and architecture studied rather than treating every Venus deployment as interchangeable.
#1 Best Overall
Record the exact repository commit and the contracts and transaction paths included. Without those identifiers, a result cannot be tied to a reproducible version of the Core Pool.
What Venus documents about gas measurement
The Venus repository documents REPORT_GAS=true npx hardhat test as an entry point for running tests with gas reporting. This establishes a repository-supported measurement method, not that a report was run for this audit or that any change reduced gas. A report should be accompanied by the commit, compiler and build configuration, network, test scenarios, initial state, and measurement method.
Rank #2
Measure equivalent successful transaction paths under the same conditions. For each proposed change, report the affected operation and measured difference, and explain relevant correctness, security, upgradeability, and storage-layout implications. Distinguish execution gas from the user’s transaction cost: a gas-unit comparison alone does not establish what a user paid.

Which Core Pool operations should a gas audit measure?
Start with representative paths supported by the vToken markets, then add scenarios implied by the exact contracts and use cases in scope. The operation list should be explicit; a single test or average should not stand in for materially different paths.
- Supply and redeem: measure successful supply and redemption paths, recording the relevant market and initial state.
- Borrow and repay: measure successful borrowing and repayment paths under stated account and market conditions.
- Risk-model interactions: include the Comptroller checks and interest-rate-model interactions exercised by the selected scenarios, rather than attributing the whole transaction’s gas to one component without a trace.
Compare only equivalent paths. An isolated unit-test result and a realistic integration or fork scenario answer different questions and should be labeled accordingly.
What Venus’s E-Mode statement means
Venus’s E-Mode documentation describes the feature for the BNB Chain Core Pool with pool-specific risk settings. It says, “This architecture ensures flexibility, backward compatibility, and gas efficiency, while giving users higher borrowing efficiency and better risk isolation.” That is Venus’s qualitative product statement; the cited passage provides no measured savings figure and is not an independent audit finding.

How historical audits should be interpreted
The Venus security index lists reviews by feature or upgrade scope, including the Core Pool Diamond Comptroller upgrade and the TwoKinks interest rate model. These records are evidence that specified code areas or changes were reviewed by named auditors. They do not establish that the current Core Pool received a comprehensive gas audit, nor do they supply findings for this title.

1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsWhat a publishable gas result needs
- Identity: network, architecture, repository commit, contracts, and transaction paths.
- Conditions: compiler and build configuration, initial state, and scenario details.
- Comparable measurements: method and results for equivalent successful paths, with any before-and-after change clearly tied to a proposed optimization.
- Trade-offs: relevant correctness, security, upgradeability, deployed-bytecode, or storage-layout consequences.
- Cost framing: separate execution gas from user transaction cost, and state the conditions behind any cost figure.
Until those details and measurements are available, the sound conclusion is limited: Venus documents a way to run gas-reporting tests, but no measured optimization or saving is established for this audit.
