To convert a document to PDF in Chrome, open a page, image, or file that Chrome can display and print, then choose Save as PDF in the print dialog. On a computer, use Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on Mac. On Android, use More > Share > Print.
Save a document as PDF on a computer
- Open the page, image, or file in Chrome. Chrome can use this method for items it can open and print; it does not convert every file format automatically.
- Open the print dialog with Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on Mac. You can also use File > Print.
- In the destination or printer selector, choose Save as PDF. Its position and appearance can vary by platform.
- Check the preview. Adjust available settings, such as pages, layout, or paper options, if needed.
- Select Save, then choose a filename and location if prompted.

Save a PDF from Chrome on Android
- Open the page, image, or file in the Chrome app.
- Tap More > Share > Print.
- If the print settings are collapsed, tap the down arrow to show them.
- Choose Save as PDF instead of a physical printer.
- Select where to save the file on your device, then tap Print to finish saving.
These steps follow Google’s Chrome printing instructions for Android. Screen arrangement and labels may vary with Android and Chrome versions.

Save the PDF to Google Drive instead
On desktop, Google documents Save to Google Drive as a print destination when the Save to Google Drive extension is installed. This is optional; it is not required to create a PDF. If the destination is unavailable, save the PDF to your computer first and upload it through the Drive website or Drive for desktop.

If “Save as PDF” is missing or the result looks wrong
- Check the destination selector. Depending on the system print dialog, the PDF option may appear under the printer or destination list or behind a See more option.
- Review the preview before saving. If pages, layout, or other visible details look wrong, return to the print settings and adjust the available options.
- Check that Chrome can print the item. The workflow applies to content Chrome can open and print. Google’s instructions do not guarantee identical results for every file type, protected content, complex layouts, or embedded media.
Google’s cited instructions cover computers and Android; they do not establish an iPhone or iPad procedure, so the Android steps should not be assumed to apply to iOS.
