One App Store example, Air Presentation – PPT remote, says it supports PowerPoint and Apple Watch navigation on Mac, with Watch support in its Pro tier. Check its current compatibility and rehearse before presenting. If you need an officially documented Apple Watch workflow, Apple supports Watch controls for Keynote instead.
Can an Apple Watch control PowerPoint?
Not through a native Apple Watch workflow described in Microsoft’s cited PowerPoint help. Microsoft documents using a smartphone as a remote and viewing speaker notes; its Presenter View guidance covers presentation navigation and presenter controls. The exact interface can vary by PowerPoint version and device. See Microsoft’s Presenter View instructions and PowerPoint for iPhone help.

A third-party option is listed in the US App Store: Air Presentation – PPT remote. Its listing says the app supports PowerPoint and Apple Watch slide navigation, and that Watch support is unlocked in Pro. The listing describes PowerPoint use on a Mac; it does not establish Windows support. These are publisher-provided feature claims, not a Microsoft or Apple endorsement, and they have not been independently tested.
Set up a third-party PowerPoint Watch remote
Because app features, prices, and operating-system requirements can change, verify the current App Store listing before installing or relying on the app. Use this checklist before presentation day:

- Install any required iPhone or desktop companion app and follow its connection or pairing instructions.
- Open the presentation and test the controls you need—such as next, previous, start, and exit—with your actual devices and connection.
- Keep a fallback ready, such as PowerPoint’s phone remote or a direct keyboard or presentation-remote control.
Use Apple’s documented Watch controls with Keynote
Apple’s native Watch presentation controls are for Keynote, not PowerPoint. Apple says a paired Apple Watch and iPhone are required, Keynote for iOS 2.5.3 or later must have been opened at least once, and Keynote must be installed on the Watch. A Watch can control a Keynote presentation playing on the iPhone when the iPhone is connected to an external display, subject to Apple’s stated conditions. The Watch can start, advance, go back, and end a presentation. See Apple’s Keynote and Apple Watch requirements.
To control a presentation running on another device, use Keynote Remote on the iPhone and pair it with Keynote on the device displaying the slides. Apple’s setup steps are in Use a remote to control a Keynote presentation.

Apple also documents a double-tap control option for Keynote. Its requirements include Apple Watch Series 9 or later, or Apple Watch Ultra with watchOS 11 or later, paired with an iPhone on iOS 16 or later, an iPad on iPadOS 16 or later, or a Mac on macOS Sequoia or later with the latest Keynote. These are Keynote-specific requirements; they do not establish compatibility with a third-party PowerPoint app.
Choose the right control method
| Method | Presentation app and device | What is documented | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Microsoft phone remote and Presenter View | PowerPoint on a presentation device, controlled from a smartphone | Microsoft describes a phone remote and Presenter View with notes and presenter controls. | Microsoft’s cited help does not describe native Apple Watch control; interface details may vary by version and device. |
| Air Presentation – PPT remote | Third-party app listing describes PowerPoint on Mac and Apple Watch navigation | The listing says Watch navigation is available with Pro. | Publisher-described feature; verify current compatibility, setup, price, paid-tier requirements, and Windows support directly in the live listing. |
| Apple Watch with Keynote | Keynote on iPhone or another device paired through Keynote Remote | Apple documents starting, advancing, going back, and ending a Keynote presentation from the Watch. | Apple’s workflow is for Keynote, with device and software requirements specified by Apple. |
For a PowerPoint deck, use the phone-based method if you want Microsoft’s documented route. Consider a third-party Watch remote only after confirming it supports your exact setup and testing it. If switching presentation software is practical and Watch control is essential, Keynote is Apple’s clearly documented native option.
