From that activity page, you can review or delete saved history and change its auto-delete period. These are general Gemini Apps controls: Google’s September 30, 2026 announcement of Gemini 4 Argon does not describe a separate Argon privacy panel or retention setting. Argon was announced as rolling out to trusted cyber defenders through Fairwind, so access and available features may vary.
Where to find Gemini Apps Activity
For a personal Google account, open Gemini settings and choose Gemini Apps Activity. You can also go to the Gemini activity page in Google My Activity. Labels and navigation can differ by platform, but look for those setting names.

On the activity page, you can inspect saved interactions, delete selected activity or a time range, turn Keep Activity off, or choose Turn off and delete activity. Turning it off affects future activity; choosing the combined option also deletes eligible activity already listed there.

What happens when Keep Activity is on
With Keep Activity enabled, Gemini chats and material shared in those interactions can be saved in Gemini Apps Activity. Depending on how you use the app, saved activity may include files, videos, screens, photos, audio, Gemini Live media, feedback, visited-site information, product usage, and location-related information.

Google says it uses this activity to provide, develop, and improve its services, including training generative AI models. Personalization may also depend on your settings and region. Google’s default auto-delete period is 18 months; you can instead choose 3 months, 36 months, or no auto-delete. The setting controls how long activity remains in your account history, not every possible copy of the information.
What turning Keep Activity off changes—and what it does not
When Keep Activity is off, future chats do not appear in Gemini Apps Activity. Google says, unless you submit feedback, those future chats are not used to train its AI models. However, turning the setting off does not mean that a chat disappears immediately: Google may keep it with your account for up to 72 hours so Gemini can respond, process feedback, and protect Google, users, and the public. Some Connected Apps are unavailable while Keep Activity is off.

Turning off Keep Activity does not disable other Google history controls, including Web & App Activity or Location History. Manage those separately in your Google Account if you want to change their collection or retention.
Audio and Gemini Live media have a separate improvement choice
Google says audio and Gemini Live videos and screenshares are not used to improve its services by default. Gemini Apps Activity has a separate option to opt into improvement use for eligible stored and future media. Check this control independently: changing Keep Activity does not make the media preference interchangeable with the main history setting.

What deletion does—and does not—remove
Deleting activity from Gemini Apps Activity removes it from the account history view, but it is not a guarantee that every copy is erased. Google says activity already reviewed by service providers is disconnected from the account and retained for up to three years. Treat deletion as a way to manage visible account history and future use, not as universal erasure.
For connected services, Google says it does not directly train generative AI models on the contents of your Gmail inbox, Drive, Contacts, Calendar, or Google Photos library. If you ask Gemini to use connected information, it may use relevant summaries, excerpts, generated media, and inferences to answer; when Keep Activity is on, these materials may also be used to improve services. Disconnecting a service or deleting its source content does not itself remove copies already present in Gemini Apps Activity.
Location information in Gemini activity
Google says precise location processed with permission is not stored in Gemini Apps Activity; the location retained there is generalized first. A location can still appear in the chat record if you include it in your prompt or Gemini includes it in a response. Other Google activity settings may separately retain location-related data.
Exporting your Gemini data
To make a copy, use Google Takeout and include Gemini data and Gemini Apps Activity in the export. Exporting is not deletion. If you deliver the archive to Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Box, or another service, secure the destination folder and remember that the receiving service’s terms apply to the copy once it is delivered.

Work or school accounts
These controls describe personal Google accounts. For work and school accounts, a Google Workspace administrator controls Gemini Apps Activity settings, and an end user may not be able to change retention or see the applicable period. Ask your organization’s administrator which controls apply.
