Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTo control a Samsung washer remotely, first register a compatible model in SmartThings and turn on Smart Control at the washer. Then open the washer in the app, choose an available cycle and settings, and tap Start. The exact controls depend on the washer model and region.
Check whether your washer supports SmartThings
SmartThings control is limited to compatible models. Samsung says many Wi-Fi washing machines can connect, but compatibility and remote functions vary. Check the exact model in its user manual or Samsung support page rather than assuming that every Samsung washer—or every Wi-Fi washer—supports remote starting. Samsung’s [regional guidance](https://www.samsung.com/ae/support/home-appliances/how-to-control-the-samsung-washing-machine-with-smartthings/) says support applies to select models.

Add the washer to SmartThings
- Install or open SmartThings and sign in with a Samsung account.
- Choose the option to add a device, then select Washer and follow the in-app prompts for your model. Samsung’s [US setup guidance](https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS10002533/) describes setting up SmartThings on a Galaxy phone; its washer instructions show the device being accessed from the Devices tab.
App screens can change, so follow the prompts shown for your device.
Enable remote control at the washer
Load the laundry and detergent, close the door, then activate Smart Control on the washer’s control panel. Samsung’s US instructions say to enable Smart Control before leaving the washer. Button labels and behavior can differ by model, so use the washer’s manual if the control is named or operated differently. See Samsung’s [remote-monitoring instructions](https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS10001025/).

Choose a cycle and start it from your phone

- Select one of the cycles and settings available for your washer.
- If the app asks, tap Send to Washer; then tap Start when that control is available.
Samsung documents cycle information and estimated completion in the app for supported washers. Some models also allow remote pausing or cancellation. The available actions depend on the appliance and app flow; a remote-control option should not be assumed if it is absent from your washer’s card.
Check progress, alerts, and scheduling
On supported models, SmartThings can show the current cycle and estimated time remaining and send notifications. Samsung US also describes Laundry Planner: choose a preferred end time, and the washer can sense the load and delay starting so the cycle is intended to finish around that time. These features are not guaranteed across all models or regions; consult your model’s manual. Samsung’s [SmartThings connection page](https://www.samsung.com/us/support/connect-with-smartthings/) describes its US feature offering.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why remote control may stop working
Samsung’s US guidance says Smart Control normally turns off when the washer door is opened or a cycle completes. On supported models, a Stay Connect setting can keep the connection available for another cycle. If the app no longer offers remote controls, check the washer panel and re-enable Smart Control as directed by the model’s manual. Samsung presents this behavior as model-dependent, not a universal rule.

What varies by washer and location
The exact cycle list, remote actions, scheduling options, and connection behavior depend on the washer model, SmartThings app version, and region. Samsung’s Gulf support page was updated June 8, 2026, and notes that availability varies. Without your model number and country, it is not possible to say which controls your washer will expose; its manual is the authority for the particular appliance.
