If you cannot use the linked email or another registered passkey device—or someone changed your sign-in ID, online ID, or password without permission—contact PlayStation through its Online Assistant.
Choose the recovery route that matches your situation

PlayStation’s U.S. recovery guidance directs users who do not recognize an account-detail change to its Online Assistant. The official contact page asks users to find their issue and use the relevant online support tools. Contact options can vary by country, so use the PlayStation support site for your region.

Recover the account if you can access its email
- Go to PlayStation’s account recovery guide and open Account Management’s sign-in page.
- Select Trouble Signing In? > Recover Your Account.
- Enter the account’s sign-in ID (email address), then open the secure link PlayStation sends you. The email may take a few minutes to arrive.
- Complete the requested information and create a new password.
If the recovery flow cannot verify you or you cannot use the required recovery method, move to the Online Assistant instead of repeatedly trying a reset that depends on an inaccessible email.

Contact the Online Assistant when self-service is not available
Use PlayStation’s contact page to find the Online Assistant or the appropriate online support tool for your issue. Explain that the account may be compromised and identify the specific problem: inaccessible linked email, missing recovery messages, or account details changed without your approval. Do not use unofficial “account recovery” contacts.

The reviewed U.S. support pages establish online support tools, but do not establish a universal phone number, live-chat schedule, or response-time guarantee. Check the official PlayStation support site for your country for the contact options currently available there.
Secure the linked email account
If PlayStation sent an account-change notice you did not expect, secure the email account associated with PlayStation as well. Sony recommends changing that email account’s password; if you cannot, contact the email provider. An attacker who controls the email account may be able to interfere with password resets and other account notices.

Investigate unfamiliar PlayStation charges separately
- Review PlayStation Store transaction history and subscription settings for the charge.
- Check whether it could be a recurring subscription charge or a purchase by another account using the same payment method.
- If the payment is still unexplained, follow PlayStation’s unauthorized-payment and compromised-account guidance and contact support.
Do not assume an unexplained charge will be refunded: refund eligibility is subject to PlayStation’s cancellation policy.
If the compromised account is tied to a stolen console
If your console was stolen, Sony advises signing out of PlayStation on all devices, deactivating consoles, and considering removal of payment methods. If you cannot access the account or change its sign-in method, contact PlayStation support promptly through the official regional support site.

After you regain access
- Review the account’s security settings and update credentials as needed.
- Keep account details private. Sony’s security guidance says, “Never share your account details with anyone else.” See PlayStation security best practices.
- Keep the linked email account secure so it remains a reliable recovery channel.
