How to Cancel Xbox Game Pass and Stop the Next Renewal Charge

To stop Xbox Game Pass from renewing, sign in to the Microsoft account that owns the subscription, open Services & subscriptions, select Manage beside Game Pass, then complete the option to turn off recurring billing or cancel. Check the subscription details afterward: an end date and a Turn on recurring billing option indicate that it is set to expire instead of renew.

How do I cancel Xbox Game Pass?

1. Go to account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the Microsoft account used to purchase Game Pass.
2. Find the Game Pass subscription and select Manage.
3. Follow the on-screen option to turn off recurring billing or cancel. Read the choices shown in your account and confirm the action.

Microsoft’s guidance says that turning off recurring billing stops future charges while leaving the subscription available until its expiry date. How can I check that Game Pass will not renew?

Return to the subscription details on Services & subscriptions and review its status and displayed end date. If the available control says Turn on recurring billing, recurring billing is already off and the subscription is set to expire on the date shown. If the page does not offer a turn-off option, check the displayed status before taking another action; the subscription may already be set to expire.

What if Game Pass is missing from my Microsoft account?

First make sure you are signed in to the Microsoft account used to buy the subscription. If it still is not listed, identify the provider that billed you: subscriptions purchased through Apple App Store or Google Play must be managed through the applicable store. Does canceling Game Pass give me a refund?

Turning off recurring billing prevents future renewals; it does not by itself promise a refund for a payment already made. Microsoft may present an option to end the subscription immediately and request a refund, but availability depends on the account and purchase.
