Yes. You can connect WordPress to Buffer so newly published posts are sent to your Buffer queue. The simplest documented route is Buffer’s third-party WordPress to Buffer plugin: install it, connect your Buffer account in the plugin settings, and follow the plugin’s setup instructions. If you need a more custom workflow, Buffer also offers an API that can be connected through no-code tools or custom code.
Connect WordPress to Buffer with the plugin
Buffer’s integration page describes the WordPress to Buffer plugin as an active, third-party integration. It requires a WordPress site and a Buffer account. Once connected, newly published WordPress posts can flow into your Buffer queue. See Buffer’s WordPress integration instructions for the current plugin listing and setup details.

- In your WordPress dashboard, install the WordPress to Buffer plugin from the WordPress plugin directory.
- Follow the installation and configuration instructions on the plugin’s page.
- Open the plugin settings in WordPress and connect your Buffer account.
- Publish a new post and check your Buffer queue to confirm it arrived. Choose the queue slot or publishing option you want in Buffer.
Buffer’s publishing help describes options including adding a post to the next available slot, prioritizing it, choosing a custom time, or publishing immediately. The exact controls available for a post depend on the Buffer workflow you use; consult Buffer’s publishing instructions for current steps.
Is the free plugin enough?
Buffer lists a free version of the plugin and a Pro version sold by WP Zinc. Buffer says Pro includes advanced features and scheduling preferences, but its integration page does not provide a complete feature-by-feature comparison. Start with the free route if it covers your publishing needs; check the plugin’s current listing before paying for Pro to confirm which specific options it adds.

Choose a route for more than basic post sharing
The plugin is the most direct option for sending newly published WordPress posts to Buffer. If you need a workflow that combines several services or applies custom logic, Buffer’s GraphQL API and automation tools offer other routes. Buffer says the API is available on every Buffer plan, including Free, but plan limits and API capabilities can change.
| Route | Best fit | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| WordPress to Buffer plugin | Automatically adding newly published WordPress posts to Buffer | Install the plugin, connect your Buffer account, and configure it in WordPress. Buffer lists free and Pro versions; a full feature comparison is not stated on its integration page. |
| No-code automation | Connecting Buffer to other services or building a workflow without writing a custom integration | Buffer identifies Zapier, Make, IFTTT, and n8n as possible tools. Each tool and workflow requires its own setup. |
| Custom API integration | Developers who need a tailored publishing pipeline | Buffer’s API uses GraphQL and a single endpoint. Buffer documents operations for creating, scheduling, and deleting posts; creating ideas; and retrieving posts, channels, and organization or account data. |
Buffer describes its API in the API Help Center article and developer introduction. Its 2026 announcement says the API is available on every plan, including Free; check Buffer’s current documentation for plan limits and capabilities before building around them: Buffer API announcement.

Check API limits before designing a workflow
The API is not a complete substitute for every Buffer feature. Buffer’s current Help Center says it does not support Start Page posting, reading or replying to comments, or full analytics; available post metrics are described as experimental. Media must be hosted at a public URL and remain reachable until publishing. Channel support and the features available for each channel can vary, so verify your specific destination and post type in Buffer’s current API guidance before implementation.

That list does not mean every channel supports the same post formats or options.

Other WordPress options listed by Buffer
Buffer’s integrations directory also lists Nelio Content, which it describes as a way to plan an editorial calendar and auto-share posts to Buffer, and Evergreen Content Poster, described as a way to reshare WordPress content. The directory does not establish their current prices or affiliate terms. Check each service’s current details before choosing it.

Troubleshoot a post that does not appear in Buffer
- Confirm the account connection: Reopen the plugin settings in WordPress and check that the intended Buffer account is connected.
- Check that the post was published: The documented plugin workflow sends newly published posts; a draft is not a newly published post.
- Review the plugin’s setup instructions: Buffer directs users to the plugin page for its installation and configuration steps. Plugin controls and requirements may change.
- For API workflows, check media access and channel support: Buffer requires media to be publicly reachable until publishing, and supported features vary by channel.
- Check the queue and publishing option: A post sent to Buffer may be scheduled for a queue slot rather than published immediately.
