What you need before connecting
Ask the server owner or hosting panel for the server’s public IP address and port. The current connection instructions used by community hosting guides use port 7777 when no separate port is supplied. You also need Satisfactory installed if you will claim an unclaimed server; claiming cannot be completed from a machine that only has a lightweight client setup.

- Server address: the IP address supplied by the owner or hosting panel.
- Port: use the supplied port; if the panel shows only an IP address, enter 7777.
- Server Manager access: the add-server controls are in the game’s main menu.
- Administrative password: required only when you claim a previously unclaimed server.
For a server you run at home, the router and firewall must allow the required traffic. A rented server normally gives you connection details through its panel and handles the underlying installation for you.
Connect through Server Manager
1. Copy the server address and port
Open the server panel or ask the administrator for the exact IP address and port. Keep the two values together; entering the right address with the wrong port produces the same symptoms as an offline server. If only an IP is listed, use port 7777.

2. Add the server in the main menu
- Launch Satisfactory and remain at the main menu.
- Open Server Manager.
- Choose Add Server.
- Enter the server IP address and port.
- Save the entry and select it from your server list.
Server Manager is the supported path described by current community hosting instructions. The Steam and Epic friends lists are not a substitute for adding the server here.
3. Claim an unclaimed server
A new dedicated server may appear as unclaimed. The computer performing the claim must have the full game installed. Follow the claim prompt and set an Administrative Password. This password manages the server; it is not your regular Steam or Epic account password and is not used as the in-game save password.
Record the administrative password securely. Anyone who receives it may be able to manage the server, so do not post it in a public chat or share it with every player who only needs to join.

4. Create or load a game and join
- With the server selected, choose whether to create a new game or load an existing save.
- Click Join Game.
- Confirm the saved server details when prompted.
- If Satisfactory displays a certificate warning for the server connection, confirm it to continue.
After the world loads, use the normal in-game session controls. The saved server entry remains available in Server Manager for later sessions.
5. Have friends add the same server
Each friend should open Server Manager on their own computer, choose Add Server, and enter the same IP address and port. They then select the entry and join. Sending the exact address and port is more reliable than inviting through a platform friends list.
Ports a Satisfactory dedicated server needs
Community hosting guides for current versions identify three firewall rules. The first port carries both game traffic and the API used by Server Manager. Reliable messaging uses a separate TCP port in guides written for Patch 1.1.0.0 and later. The patch dependency comes from community documentation; an official patch reference was not available for verification.

Open all three rules on the host’s firewall and expose them through the router when the server is self-hosted. The external and internal port numbers must match. Port redirection is not supported by the hosting instructions, so forwarding an outside port to a different inside port can prevent discovery or joining.
Router and firewall checklist for self-hosting
- Create an inbound UDP rule for 7777.
- Create an inbound TCP rule for 7777.
- Create an inbound TCP rule for 8888.
- Use the same number externally and internally for each forwarded port.
- Give friends the public address they can reach from outside your home network, together with the port.
Firewall changes alone do not install or start the dedicated server. The server software must be running and listening on the address you give players.
Self-hosting versus renting a server
The connection process is nearly identical for players, but the preparation differs for the person responsible for the server.

In either case, players still add the address in Server Manager. Renting changes who performs the installation and network setup; it does not turn the friends list into a supported connection method.

Troubleshoot the most common connection failures
“Satisfactory can’t join server” or an encryption-token error
If you started from the Steam or Epic friends list, back out and add the server manually in Server Manager. Community guides specifically associate friends-list joining with these errors. Verify the IP and port before trying again.
The server does not appear in Server Manager
After the 1.1-era networking changes, many servers reportedly stopped appearing when hosts forwarded only port 7777. Check that TCP 8888 is also open, alongside UDP 7777 and TCP 7777, and that each external port matches its internal destination. Restart the server after correcting the firewall or forwarding rules, then refresh or reopen Server Manager.
Infinite loading after connecting
One community hosting guide attributes an endless loading screen to a missing TCP 8888 rule. This is a single-source report rather than a confirmed official diagnosis, but checking 8888 is a low-risk first step because current community port lists include it for reliable messaging.
The claim prompt will not complete
- Confirm that the computer performing the claim has the full Satisfactory game installed.
- Use the administrative password requested by the claim dialog, not an account password.
- Check that TCP 7777 is reachable, because Server Manager uses that port for the server API.
- Confirm that the server is actually running and that the address and port were copied exactly.
A certificate warning appears
A certificate warning can appear during the join flow. The documented procedure is to confirm the warning and continue, provided you intentionally entered the server address supplied by the owner. If the address is unfamiliar, stop and verify it before accepting anything.

Older instructions often list UDP 15777 and sometimes 15000. One current community source says those ports are unnecessary for 1.1 and later, so treat them as legacy, low-confidence advice. Start with UDP 7777, TCP 7777 and TCP 8888, which are the ports that converge across the newer hosting instructions.
Connection checklist for players
- Obtain the server’s IP address and port from the owner or hosting panel.
- Open Satisfactory’s Server Manager from the main menu.
- Select Add Server and enter both values; use 7777 when only an IP is supplied.
- If the server is unclaimed, have the full game installed on the claiming computer and set an administrative password.
- Create a new game or load a save, select the server and choose Join Game.
- Confirm the saved details and accept the certificate warning if one appears for the intended server.
- If joining fails, avoid the friends list and check the three current firewall ports.
What the available documentation does—and does not—establish
Most current connection details come from community hosting-provider guides, which agree on Server Manager, port 7777 and the addition of TCP 8888 for newer patches. Those guides are practical but are not official Coffee Stain documentation. The community Satisfactory wiki is also community-run, and older Fandom port examples are described as outdated. Because an official source confirming the current patch number was not available, treat references to “Patch 1.1.0.0” as the version context used by those guides rather than as an independently verified release statement.
A launch option sometimes reported for remapping 8888 (-ExternalReliablePort) was not independently confirmed. Do not rely on it as a fix; first use the standard matching-port setup above.
The Bottom Line
Add the server in Satisfactory’s Server Manager with its IP and port, claim it there if necessary, and join a save. For self-hosted servers, allow UDP 7777, TCP 7777 and TCP 8888 with matching internal and external numbers; do not use the Steam or Epic friends list as the connection method.
