The XBOX Nano Controller connects to Xbox consoles through Xbox Wireless and to Windows PCs, Android phones, and iPhones through Bluetooth. Put the controller and target device into pairing mode, select the controller when it appears, and wait for the Xbox button to stop flashing. You need a separately sold USB-C cable to charge its internal battery; a compatible USB-C data cable is also required when using button mapping in the Xbox Accessories app on Windows.
Connection methods at a glance
Your best connection method depends on the device. Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles use Xbox Wireless. Windows 10 and Windows 11 PCs can use Bluetooth, and Microsoft also lists Xbox Wireless when a compatible Xbox Wireless PC adapter or built-in hardware is available. Android and iPhone use Bluetooth. USB-C is primarily the charging connection; Microsoft specifically requires a compatible USB-C cable for the Windows Xbox Accessories app, but the published specifications do not establish a general wired-play mode for every cable.

Before you pair the controller
Charge the internal battery
The Nano has an internal rechargeable battery. Microsoft says a USB-C charging cable is required and sold separately. Charge the controller before troubleshooting wireless discovery; a low battery can prevent a reliable pairing attempt. The published information does not state a battery-capacity or runtime figure, so do not use a claimed playtime from another controller as a substitute.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Keep the first pairing simple
- Place the controller close to the console, PC, or phone while pairing.
- Turn on Bluetooth before opening the device list on a PC or phone.
- If the target device already contains an old entry for the controller, be ready to remove that entry and pair again.
- For a game, confirm that the game or cloud-gaming app accepts controller input; a successful Bluetooth connection does not make an incompatible game respond.
Know which button is Pair
The controller’s Pair button is used to enter discovery mode. Holding it for about three seconds makes the Xbox button flash. On an Xbox console, you also press the console’s own Pair button. Do not confuse pressing the Xbox button to power on the controller with holding Pair to begin discovery.
Connect the Nano to an Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One
Xbox consoles use Xbox Wireless rather than the phone-style Bluetooth procedure. Follow this sequence for either an Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One:
- Turn on the Xbox console.
- Press the Pair button on the console. This starts the console’s search for a wireless controller.
- Press the Xbox button on the Nano to turn on the controller.
- Hold the controller’s Pair button until the Xbox button begins flashing.
- Release the button and wait. When the Xbox light becomes steady, the controller has completed the wireless connection.
If the light continues flashing, the console and controller have not completed the handshake. Keep them close, make sure both Pair buttons were used, and repeat the sequence after charging the controller. The documented procedure does not require a USB-C cable for console pairing.
What a successful console connection means
The steady Xbox light confirms the wireless link, but it does not guarantee that every game accepts controller input. A game must support a controller, and any game-specific control options remain separate from the pairing process.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Connect to a Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC with Bluetooth
Bluetooth is the simplest PC method when the computer has working Bluetooth hardware. Microsoft documents the following flow:
- Press the controller’s Xbox button to turn it on.
- Hold the controller’s Pair button for three seconds. The Xbox button flashes while the controller is discoverable.
- On the PC, open Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices.
- Turn Bluetooth on if it is off.
- Select Add device, choose the Bluetooth option, and select the Nano Controller when it appears.
- Wait for Windows to report that the device is connected before launching the game.
Windows menu wording can vary slightly by release, but the documented path is Bluetooth & devices, then Add device. If the controller does not appear, leave the Add device screen open while the Xbox button is flashing; discovery mode ends when the controller times out or connects elsewhere.
Using Xbox Wireless on a PC
Microsoft also lists Xbox Wireless as a PC connection option when compatible Xbox Wireless hardware is available. That is a different radio protocol from ordinary Bluetooth. Use the adapter or built-in hardware’s own pairing controls, then place the controller in Pair mode as directed by that hardware. The supplied specifications do not identify a particular adapter model or establish that every Windows computer includes Xbox Wireless, so Bluetooth remains the broadly documented PC procedure.

When Windows asks for a cable
Wireless play and the Xbox Accessories app are separate cases. Microsoft says the Windows version of the Xbox Accessories app requires a compatible USB-C cable for button mapping. A cable that fits the port is not automatically proven to carry data; use one identified as compatible for data when the app needs to communicate with the controller. The published information does not promise that any USB-C cable provides wired gameplay.

Pair with an Android phone
- Open the phone’s Bluetooth settings and switch Bluetooth on.
- Press the Nano’s Xbox button to turn it on.
- Hold Pair until the Xbox button flashes.
- In the phone’s available-device list, tap the controller.
- After the phone reports that it is connected, open a controller-compatible game or supported cloud-gaming app.
The official specifications list Android Bluetooth support, but Microsoft qualifies mobile compatibility by device and operating-system version. A phone may show the controller as connected while a particular game ignores it; check the game’s input settings and controller-support statement before treating that as a pairing failure.
If Android keeps reconnecting to another controller
Open the Bluetooth device list and disconnect or remove the old controller entry, then repeat discovery with only the Nano in Pair mode. Keeping the controller near the phone reduces the chance that another remembered device is selected first.
Pair with an iPhone
- Open the iPhone’s Bluetooth settings and turn Bluetooth on.
- Turn on the Nano by pressing its Xbox button.
- Hold Pair until the Xbox button flashes.
- Tap the controller in the list of available Bluetooth devices.
- Launch a game or supported cloud-gaming app that accepts controllers and test the buttons there.
iOS is listed as supported by the Nano’s official specification, with the same qualification that device, operating-system version, and software can limit functionality. Pairing in iOS settings is only the wireless connection step; the game still has to implement controller input.
Removing an old iPhone pairing
If the controller is listed but will not connect, use the iPhone’s Bluetooth controls to forget or remove the existing controller entry, turn the Nano off and on, and start the three-second Pair procedure again. This resets the phone’s stored relationship without claiming a controller firmware reset.

Charging and USB-C requirements
The Nano uses an internal rechargeable battery rather than user-replaceable cells. A USB-C cable is required for charging and is sold separately, according to Microsoft. Charging is therefore an ownership requirement even though the wireless pairing procedures do not use a cable.
| Task | Cable requirement established by Microsoft | What is not established |
|---|---|---|
| Charge the controller | USB-C cable required; sold separately. | No battery capacity, charge time, or runtime is stated. |
| Use Xbox Accessories on Windows for button mapping | A compatible USB-C cable is required. | Not every USB-C charging lead is confirmed to support data. |
| Pair with Xbox, Windows Bluetooth, Android, or iPhone | No cable is required in the documented wireless steps. | The published specifications do not promise universal wired gameplay through USB-C. |
Keep the cable available for charging and for any Windows app task that requires a wired data connection. Do not assume that a cable’s USB-C plug alone proves data compatibility.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Use the Xbox Accessories app for button mapping
Microsoft’s Store listing says button mapping is available through the Xbox Accessories app on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows 10/11. On Windows, the app requires a compatible USB-C cable to communicate with the controller for that function.
Recommended Free Tools
- Connect the controller to the Xbox or Windows PC using the app-compatible USB-C cable.
- Open the Xbox Accessories app on the supported Xbox console or Windows 10/11 PC.
- Select the connected controller in the app.
- Apply the available button-mapping controls, then disconnect the cable only after the app has finished saving the configuration.
The supplied product information does not list every remapping option or an official Nano-specific firmware procedure, so available controls can depend on the app version and device. Treat the app as a configuration tool, not as a requirement for ordinary Bluetooth pairing.

Why a connected controller may not work in a game
- The game does not support controllers. Microsoft says to use the controller with compatible games. Test another known controller-compatible game or supported cloud-gaming app before changing Bluetooth settings.
- The device is connected to the wrong host. Turn off Bluetooth on nearby phones or PCs that may automatically reconnect, then pair with the intended device.
- The controller is not in discovery mode. The Xbox button must flash after holding Pair for about three seconds during Bluetooth setup.
- The battery is too low. Charge through USB-C before repeating the pairing process.
- Windows or the phone has a stale entry. Remove the old controller record and use Add device or the phone’s available-device list again.
- Mobile support is limited by the device or OS. The official specification says Android and iOS support applies to select devices and versions, with some functions potentially unavailable.
- The app cannot see the controller. On Windows, verify that the USB-C lead is compatible with the Xbox Accessories app’s data requirement rather than only being a charging cable.
No Nano-specific firmware-recovery sequence is established in the published material. Avoid treating a generic reset combination as an official procedure; use the documented pairing, charging, device-removal, and app steps first.
Choose the right connection for each device
| Situation | Use this first | Reason | Fallback or check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Playing on Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One | Xbox Wireless | It is the specified console protocol. | Repeat both Pair-button steps and wait for a steady Xbox light. |
| Playing on a Windows laptop or desktop | Bluetooth | It is the documented wireless PC flow and does not require a cable during play. | Use Xbox Wireless only when compatible PC hardware is available. |
| Using button mapping on Windows | Xbox Accessories app plus compatible USB-C cable | Microsoft requires the cable for the Windows app’s mapping function. | Return to Bluetooth after configuration if wireless play is preferred. |
| Playing on Android or iPhone | Bluetooth | Both mobile platforms are listed in the product specification. | Confirm the phone, OS version, and game support the controller. |
| Controller will not appear | Charge, remove old entry, and re-enter Pair mode | These checks address the documented prerequisites without assuming a firmware fault. | Keep the controller close and verify Bluetooth is on. |
What the Nano Controller is—and what its published specifications say
The 2026 Xbox Wire launch announcement lists a launch price of $49.99. That is an announced launch figure, not a guarantee of the current price or availability in every region. The same announcement describes the controller as a little over 5 inches long and 3.5 ounces, and says it includes all 18 standard gameplay inputs. Those size and weight figures are useful context when choosing a compact controller, but they do not change the pairing steps.
The official product information supports Xbox Wireless on Xbox consoles and Bluetooth on Windows 10/11 PCs, tablets, iOS, Android, and compatible Smart TVs. It also lists Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox on PC, Windows, Android, and iOS as compatible platforms. “Compatible” does not mean every device or app exposes every feature: Microsoft explicitly limits Bluetooth and mobile support to select devices and versions and notes that some functionality may not be supported.
