How to Connect KnowBe4 Agent Risk Manager to Claude’s Compliance API

Connect KnowBe4 Agent Risk Manager to Claude Compliance with a Primary Owner-created API key, both required scopes, and the correct organization settings.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

To connect KnowBe4 Agent Risk Manager to Claude’s Compliance API, an Anthropic organization’s Primary Owner must create a compliance API key with both read:compliance_org_data and read:compliance_user_data. Enter that key in KnowBe4’s Anthropic Claude Compliance integration, choose whether to discover organizations automatically or specify IDs, then select Save & Connect. After the connection is healthy, review collected activity under Discovery > AI Activity Log.

Check access and prepare the key

You need access to the KnowBe4 Security Awareness Training console and Agent Risk Manager administration. Your organization also needs an Anthropic subscription and access to create API keys. In the documented setup flow, only the Anthropic organization’s Primary Owner can create the compliance access key. If you are not that owner, ask them to create it.

Keep the key in a secure location when Anthropic displays it. KnowBe4 warns that the key value cannot be retrieved again through that creation flow; after configuration, Agent Risk Manager shows whether a key is configured, not the key itself. See the KnowBe4 Claude Compliance Integration Guide.

Create a Claude Compliance API key

  1. Sign in to the Claude console as the organization’s Primary Owner.
  2. Open the profile menu and select Organization settings > API.
  3. Select + Create key.
  4. Grant both required scopes: read:compliance_org_data and read:compliance_user_data. The organization-data scope supports automatic organization-ID discovery. The user-data scope permits access to user chats, messages, and files, as described in KnowBe4’s setup guide.
  5. Create the key and securely copy its value.

Add the integration in Agent Risk Manager

  1. Sign in to the KnowBe4 Security Awareness Training console.
  2. Open the grid menu and select Agent Risk Manager.
  3. In the Agent Risk Manager sidebar, select Setup > Integrations.
  4. Under Add a New Integration, select Anthropic Claude Compliance.
  5. Enter the compliance access key. Leave Organization IDs blank for automatic discovery, or enter a comma-separated list of Anthropic organization IDs to limit collection to those organizations.
  6. Select Save & Connect. Agent Risk Manager tests the connection before saving.

Confirm the connection and find activity

Check the integration in Setup > Integrations. KnowBe4 lists statuses including Healthy, Error, Paused, Pending, and Setting Up. Healthy indicates the connection is working. For another status, open the integration and inspect its setup or error details. The Agent Risk Manager Quickstart Guide says Pending means setup steps remain, Setting Up may take a few minutes before you refresh, and Error calls for reviewing the configuration and running the connection test again.

  • Discovery > AI Activity Log: View collected Claude activity.
  • Users > User Activity: View each user’s Acceptable Use Policy acknowledgment status and browser-extension health.
  • Dashboard: Review vendor data.
  • Policies > Data Detection Policies: Investigate detections.

Anthropic and KnowBe4 describe the integration as using the Compliance API to inventory AI agents and Claude usage, associate activity with a human, system, or agent source, and identify risks such as prompt injection, sensitive-information disclosure, excessive agency, and unbounded consumption. These are vendor-stated capabilities, not independent performance findings. See Anthropic’s guide to Claude Compliance API integrations and KnowBe4’s announcement.

Fix common connection errors

  • Missing required scopes: Create a new compliance key with both read:compliance_org_data and read:compliance_user_data, then update the integration.
  • Organization IDs are no longer accessible: Remove IDs the key cannot access, or leave the field blank for automatic discovery.
  • A Claude Compliance integration already exists: Open and inspect the existing integration instead of creating a duplicate.
  • Status is Setting Up: Allow a few minutes, then refresh.
  • Status is Error: Review the integration settings and rerun the connection test.
  • Status is Pending: Complete the outstanding setup steps shown in the integration.

Understand preview status and control limits

Availability is limited and the rollout descriptions differ by vendor. KnowBe4’s October 2, 2026 quickstart labels Agent Risk Manager a technical preview. Its September 29, 2026 announcement says the Claude integration is available to select customers in early access, with expanded access coming soon. Anthropic’s integration directory says general availability is planned for November 2026. These dated statements may change, so confirm eligibility with KnowBe4 and Anthropic. The sources do not establish a price or confirm that every organization can enable the integration.

The Compliance API integration currently ingests and monitors AI activity; KnowBe4 describes integration policies, including blocking unwanted activity, as coming soon. Do not treat connecting this integration as a way to block Claude. The quickstart describes browser-extension policies as a separate mechanism for controlling access to AI vendors.

Pause, change, or remove the connection

Open the integration from Setup > Integrations to pause or resume collection, change its API key, or delete it. Pausing stops collection, and activity missed during a pause cannot be backfilled after resuming. Deleting stops monitoring and cannot be undone.
