You can bring Google Sheets data into Datarails for use in automated reports and dashboards. The documented workflow is an import into Datarails—not a live, two-way editing link: you select or paste the sheet link in the setup flow, review the imported version, then map its fields to the Datarails database.
What the Google Sheets connection does
Datarails documents Google Sheets as a source for reports and dashboards. Data moves from the sheet into Datarails; the support guide does not describe edits in Datarails being written back to the Google Sheet. See Datarails’ Google Sheet Integration guide.

The guide is largely screenshot-based, so the precise setup sequence and labels should be checked in your Datarails workspace. It explicitly describes choosing the File Name field and either pasting a Google Sheet link or selecting the sheet from a drop-down.

Connect a sheet and prepare its data
- Open the Google Sheets integration setup in Datarails. Follow the current setup flow shown in your workspace; the public guide does not transcribe every control or step.
- Choose the source sheet. In the File Name field, paste the sheet link or select the sheet from the available drop-down, as supported by the guide.
- Review the imported version. After ingestion, the data appears on a version tab. Check that the imported content is the intended source before using it in reporting.
- Map the data to the Datarails database. Treat this as a separate setup task: a successful transfer does not by itself mean the sheet’s business fields have been mapped or normalized for reporting. Map the imported data as you would data from another source.
- Validate the connection and configure its sync behavior. Use the options available in your tenant to test or run the integration, and choose whether to sync only when source changes are detected if that fits your workflow.
Choose how often the sheet is synchronized
Datarails documents an incremental-sync option that synchronizes Google Sheets data only when changes are detected in the source file. The company says this can reduce database size and optimize performance. The reviewed Google Sheets guide does not state a default schedule or cadence, so check the schedule configured for your integration rather than assuming it syncs at a particular interval.

The broader Integrations Screen guide describes general integration monitoring and controls, including schedules, last-sync timestamps, and immediate sync actions. These are platform-level capabilities; the guide does not establish that every control is specific to the Google Sheets connector.
Monitor syncs and distinguish transfer from mapping
The Integrations screen can show source and Filebox status, sync timestamps, errors, and mapping states, including unmapped or failed mappings. A transferred file and a usable reporting dataset are different checkpoints: confirm both the sync result and the mapping state.

The screen’s test-sync action fetches and validates data without writing it to the Filebox. Use it to check the fetched data before committing a normal sync. For the full set of general screen behaviors, consult Datarails’ Integrations Screen documentation.

Handle comments and large Google Sheets files
- Comments: Datarails says comments are removed from the file before upload. If comments contain information your finance team needs, preserve that information separately rather than relying on it to arrive with the imported data.
- Files larger than 10 MB: Datarails recommends splitting files above 10 MB into smaller files where possible. If you must use a larger sheet, its guide points to a Large files (+10MB) option under the data-connection settings in the sync-query line. Datarails warns this method is much slower and presents it as a last alternative. The guide does not state a maximum supported file size.
Access and setup details to confirm in your workspace
Datarails’ general Integration Methods guide says integrations are a paid feature and directs customers to the Datarails support or integration team to establish new integrations. It does not say whether this particular Google Sheets workflow has a separate charge or support prerequisite.
