You can connect Dropbox to Buffer to select an image or video while composing a post in Buffer’s web app, without downloading and re-uploading the file first. The connection uses Uploadcare for the file-picker authorization flow. It is an attachment workflow—not automatic two-way synchronization.
What the Dropbox–Buffer integration does
Dropbox appears in Buffer’s media picker as a cloud-storage source. After you authorize access, you can browse Dropbox files and folders, select an image or video, and add it to a Buffer post. Buffer’s documented flow is for attaching media to posts; it does not establish automatic syncing between Dropbox and Buffer. Buffer’s Help Center explains the cloud-storage attachment workflow.

Uploadcare provides the file picker and authorization flow. When prompted, you authorize Uploadcare to access Dropbox files. Dropbox recommends reviewing third-party terms and privacy policies before granting access. The available product information does not specify Uploadcare’s exact OAuth scopes or how long its authorization token lasts, so do not assume a more precise access boundary than the authorization screen and current policies state. Dropbox’s connected-app guidance explains how to review and manage third-party app access.

File and account limits to check
- One file per selection: Buffer’s Help Center says the described cloud-storage flow lets you upload one file at a time. If a post needs multiple assets, check the composer’s current options rather than assuming the Dropbox picker will add them in one selection. Buffer Help Center.
- Buffer media rules still apply: Selected files must meet Buffer’s image or video type and size requirements for the destination channel and post format. Check those current requirements before scheduling; they can vary by channel and format. Buffer Help Center.
- Each organization member connects their own storage account: In a Buffer organization, a member can access only the Dropbox account they personally authenticate. Connecting one person’s Dropbox does not automatically make that account available to teammates through Uploadcare. Buffer Help Center.
- Web composer required: Buffer says attaching media from Dropbox and the other listed cloud services is not available in its mobile apps. Use the web composer for this workflow. Buffer Help Center.
Choose a cloud source that fits your team
Buffer also documents Google Drive, Google Photos, and OneDrive as media sources. Pick the service where the assets already live and confirm that each person who needs access can authorize their own account. These are alternatives for selecting post media, not evidence of automatic synchronization with Buffer. Buffer’s Help Center lists the supported sources.

In a 2021 article, Buffer said the integration had been rolled out to every Buffer plan, including the Free plan. That is a historical statement, not confirmation of current plan entitlements or pricing. Check Buffer’s current plan information before choosing a plan based on Dropbox access.
