What the Raycast–Buffer integration does
The integration lets you use Raycast AI to work with Buffer through natural-language requests. Buffer’s examples cover adding a post to your queue, checking posts scheduled for the week, and creating drafts for connected channels. Buffer remains responsible for publishing content to those social accounts: as its Help Center puts it, “We still handle publishing to each social channel; the API is how your other tools hand content to Buffer.”

What you need before setup
- Raycast with the Raycast Pro plan, which Buffer’s setup guide says is required to use MCP servers through Raycast AI.
- A Buffer account and the social profiles you want to use connected to Buffer.
- Authorization through Buffer’s OAuth sign-in window. For this connection, the guide says you do not need an API key.
Buffer says its API is available on every Buffer plan, including Free. That is separate from Raycast’s MCP requirement: Buffer API plan access does not remove the Raycast Pro requirement stated in Buffer’s setup guide.
Set up Buffer in Raycast
- In Raycast, open the Install MCP Server command.
- Enter Buffer as the server name and select HTTP as the server type.
- Enter Buffer’s MCP endpoint:
https://mcp.buffer.com/mcp. - Install the server, then follow the prompt to sign in to Buffer and approve access through OAuth.
- After authorization completes, use Raycast AI to ask for a Buffer task.

Which channels and tasks are supported?
Buffer’s Help Center lists API support for Instagram, Threads, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, Google Business Profiles, Mastodon, YouTube, Pinterest, and Bluesky. Your available profiles depend on what you have connected to Buffer, and posting behavior and channel-specific features vary. The Raycast guide’s examples do not establish that every Buffer API operation or channel-specific feature is exposed through Raycast in the same way.
Buffer describes its current API as GraphQL, with documented operations for creating, retrieving, editing, and deleting posts, creating ideas, and retrieving organizations and channels. Treat that as a description of the API generally, not a guarantee that every operation is available through the Raycast integration.

Important limitations
- Media: Media used through the API must be hosted at a public URL and remain reachable until the post publishes. The API retrieves the media from that link rather than accepting a native direct file upload in this flow.
- Start Page: The API does not support creating or editing Start Page content.
- Comments: The API does not support reading or replying to comments; use Buffer’s engagement tools for those tasks.
- Analytics: Full analytics and insights are not available through the API. Buffer describes an experimental set of post metrics and does not recommend relying on them for reporting.
- Channel-specific features: Support varies by channel, so confirm the behavior you need for the particular connected profile.
Raycast or another Buffer-connected tool?
Raycast is a fit if you want keyboard-driven, conversational access to Buffer tasks from your desktop and already meet its MCP plan requirement. Buffer also lists automation and AI tools such as Zapier, Make, IFTTT, and n8n, but their features, authentication methods, pricing, and task coverage are not established as equivalent to Raycast’s setup here. Choose based on whether you need conversational requests in Raycast or a different kind of workflow, and verify that the client supports the Buffer actions you need.
