To connect Bluetooth headphones to a Windows 11 PC, turn on Bluetooth, put the headphones in pairing mode, and add them through Quick Settings or Windows Settings. If they pair but remain silent, select them as the sound output device.
Before you pair: check Bluetooth and headphone pairing mode
Your PC needs working Bluetooth. Most Windows devices have it built in; if yours does not, a compatible USB Bluetooth adapter can add it. Check that the adapter supports Windows 11 and meets your PC maker’s requirements.

Turn on the headphones and put them into discoverable or pairing mode. The method varies by model, so use the headphone manual or manufacturer’s instructions rather than assuming a particular button combination. Keep the headphones near the PC while pairing.

Pair headphones using Quick Settings
- Select the Network, Sound, or Battery area beside the taskbar clock to open Quick Settings.
- Turn on Bluetooth if it is off.
- Select the chevron beside the Bluetooth tile to manage Bluetooth devices.
- Under New devices, select your headphones. Follow any prompts, then select Done.
Pair headphones in Settings
- Go to Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices and turn on Bluetooth.
- Select Add device > Bluetooth.
- When Windows lists your headphones, select them and follow any prompts shown.
These are two ways to complete the same pairing task; use whichever interface is easier. Pairing saves the headphones to Windows. With Bluetooth on, a paired device may connect automatically when it is in range, but a saved device is not necessarily connected at every moment.

Choose the headphones for sound output
If Windows shows the headphones as connected but you hear no sound, check where audio is being sent. Select the sound controls from the taskbar and choose the headphones as the output device, or go to Start > Settings > System > Sound > Output and select them there. A Bluetooth connection alone does not ensure Windows has routed audio to the headphones.
Troubleshoot pairing and connection problems
Headphones do not appear in the device list
- Confirm Bluetooth is on and that the PC has working Bluetooth.
- Make sure the headphones are powered on, charged, and in pairing mode.
- Move them closer to the PC and use the manufacturer’s instructions for the correct pairing procedure.
Headphones appear but will not connect
- Open Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices, select the headphones, and remove the device.
- Turn Bluetooth off, wait about 10 seconds, and turn it back on.
- Put the headphones back into pairing mode and add them again using Quick Settings or Settings.
Bluetooth is missing or unavailable
A missing or disabled Bluetooth control can point to a hardware error, including a driver or firmware issue. Check support guidance for your specific PC model. If the PC does not have Bluetooth hardware, a compatible USB Bluetooth adapter is an option; it is not needed when the PC already has working Bluetooth.

Connection still fails
Run the Bluetooth troubleshooter in the Windows 11 Get Help app, check Windows Update, and restart the PC. If the problem continues, consult the PC manufacturer’s support guidance for model-specific driver or firmware steps.
