You can use Slack integrations on Android, but Slack’s documented app-install process starts on desktop. First add or request the app for your workspace, then connect any required third-party account; on your phone, use the features that particular integration supports. Slack’s mobile instructions do document a way to find and run published workflows: Search → Workflows.
Can you install a Slack app from Android?
Slack’s documented route for adding an app to a workspace is a desktop flow, not a general install process in the Slack Android app. Use Slack on a desktop to add the integration, or ask a workspace owner or app manager to approve it if installation is restricted. Afterward, you can use the integration on Android if it offers mobile features.

Slack says its Marketplace contains more than 2,000 apps in its current guide; that is Slack’s own count, not a guarantee that every app works on Android. Slack does not publish a universal Android compatibility list. See Slack’s app-install instructions and its guide to apps.

How to add an app to your Slack workspace
- Check your workspace’s app rules. By default, members can install apps, but an owner or admin can restrict installation or require approval. If Slack offers a request option instead of installation, submit the request and wait for an owner or app manager to review it. Some restricted apps may not be available to request.
- Open Slack on a desktop. In the sidebar, select Agents & tools or, depending on your workspace, More or Tools, then choose Apps.
- Find the integration. Search for the app you want and select Add, then Add to Slack.
- Follow the prompts. Complete any setup or approval steps Slack presents. If the app is already installed, Slack may offer an option to connect an account rather than install it again.
Slack’s labels can vary across workspaces and documentation; some instructions also refer to Automations. For the current route and request process, consult Add apps to your Slack workspace.

Connect the third-party account
Adding an app to Slack does not necessarily connect every member’s account with the external service. Open the integration in Slack and follow its authentication prompts. Depending on the app, setup or use may be available from its Home or Messages tab, a shortcut, a channel, or a mention.
Workflow Builder connector steps also need third-party authentication. The workflow’s configuration determines whether each person authenticates with their own service account or uses credentials supplied by the workflow creator. Find and use the integration on Android
For a published workflow
- Open Slack on Android and tap Search.
- Select Workflows to find a published workflow, then follow its prompts to run it.
This mobile path is for finding and running published workflows. It does not establish that app installation or full workflow authoring is available in the Android app. Slack lists Workflow Builder as available on paid plans; check its Workflow Builder guide for current details.
For another Slack app
Open the app’s Home or Messages tab if it has one, use its available shortcuts, or go to the channel where it is installed. Some integrations require you to add them to a channel or mention them. The app determines which features are available, so a feature offered on desktop may not be present on Android.

Choose the right integration approach

Review access before connecting an app
On an app’s Marketplace page, check its requested permission scopes, privacy policy, and any security or compliance information the developer has submitted. Scopes describe what the app can access and do, including whether it can read messages or files, post or modify content, or create channels. Slack says Marketplace apps are reviewed for user experience and security; an app outside the Marketplace displays a notice that Slack has not reviewed it. Workspace installation and personal account access are separate decisions: an app can be approved for the workspace while still requiring individual members to authenticate with an external service.
