For a receiver with a dedicated SUB or LFE output and a Monoprice subwoofer with an LFE or compatible line input, connect the two with one mono RCA cable. If your equipment has different connections, choose a signal path supported by both manuals before wiring.
Identify the matching connections
Check the labels on the receiver’s rear panel and the subwoofer’s input panel, then confirm them in the manuals for your exact models. Monoprice subwoofers do not all have the same terminals, and a receiver may offer a dedicated subwoofer output, stereo preamplifier outputs, or speaker outputs.

Monoprice manuals identify the dedicated SUB/LFE connection as the preferred route on applicable models. The manual for product 14567 describes its LFE input as a mono line-level RCA input for a dedicated subwoofer output, and its high-level input as speaker-level binding posts. - Turn off and unplug the receiver and subwoofer before connecting cables.
- Connect the receiver’s SUB or LFE OUT jack to the subwoofer’s LFE IN jack with one mono RCA cable. If the subwoofer has no LFE-labeled input, use the line input specified by its manual; some manuals designate the left line input for this connection.
- Reconnect power and turn on the equipment. The cited Monoprice setup instructions do not include the cable, so obtain a compatible mono RCA cable separately if needed.

Choose an alternative if the receiver has no SUB/LFE output
Stereo preamplifier outputs to line-level inputs
If the receiver lacks a dedicated subwoofer output but has stereo preamplifier outputs, the cited manuals describe connecting those outputs to the subwoofer’s left and right line-level RCA inputs with a stereo RCA cable. Use this option only if the subwoofer has those inputs and both manuals support the route.
Speaker outputs to speaker-level inputs
If there is neither a dedicated subwoofer output nor preamplifier outputs, some Monoprice subwoofers accept speaker-level input from a receiver using speaker wire. This is not a universal workaround: use it only when the receiver’s outputs and the subwoofer’s speaker-level inputs are compatible according to both manuals. Monoprice product 14567 manual.

Set the subwoofer after wiring
Control names and available adjustments vary by model. The cited Monoprice instructions recommend starting with the subwoofer volume and low-pass filter at minimum, then raising and adjusting them gradually while playing material with substantial low-frequency content.

- Set the subwoofer’s volume and low-pass filter to minimum before powering on, if your model has those controls.
- Turn on the equipment and play music or other material with significant bass.
- Raise the subwoofer volume gradually until its output blends with the main speakers.
- Adjust the low-pass filter for a smooth transition. Monoprice warns that setting it too high can make bass sound boomy and male voices unnaturally chesty.
Use the controls and setup guidance in your subwoofer’s manual; do not assume a crossover frequency, phase setting, or receiver menu sequence applies to every model. Monoprice product 14567 manual.

If the connection still is not clear
- Check the actual labels on both devices rather than relying on jack color or a generic diagram.
- Confirm that the chosen receiver output and subwoofer input are a supported pair in both manuals.
- If you cannot find matching terminals, identify each product’s model number and consult its official manual before trying another wiring method.
