If you need to split one output between two monitors, the mini PC must support the relevant USB-C video feature or DisplayPort MST, and the complete connection must have enough bandwidth for both screens.
Check your mini PC’s display support first
Before connecting cables, look up the exact mini PC model’s display specifications. The number or shape of its ports does not, by itself, prove that two monitors can run simultaneously or that they can use your preferred resolutions and refresh rates. For example, ASUS documents display configurations and per-display limits for the specific NUC12DCM; those specifications should not be applied to other mini PCs.

Check the model documentation for supported simultaneous outputs, video capabilities of USB-C ports, and any stated resolution or refresh-rate limits. Also check what inputs your monitors accept, so you can choose compatible cables or adapters.

Two separate video outputs
If your mini PC supports two outputs at once, connect one monitor to each. This is generally the simplest setup: for example, the model documentation may specify an HDMI output alongside a USB-C display output. Confirm the exact combination for your machine rather than assuming that any two ports work together.

- Connect each monitor to a separate supported video output using a cable or adapter that matches the monitor’s input.
- Use each monitor’s controls to select the input connected to the mini PC.
- Open your operating system’s display settings, choose the option to extend the desktop, and arrange the screens to match their physical positions.

USB-C with a video adapter or dock
USB-C describes the connector, not a guarantee that the port sends video. Check the mini PC’s specifications to confirm that the particular USB-C port supports DisplayPort video output, often described as DisplayPort Alt Mode, before choosing a USB-C display adapter or dock. Then confirm that the host and adapter both support the resolution and refresh rate you want.

One DisplayPort output with an MST hub
A Multi-Stream Transport (MST) hub can split a compatible DisplayPort output into separate display streams for two independent monitors. This requires DisplayPort MST support from the mini PC; a hub cannot add that capability to a source that lacks it.
- Confirm that the mini PC’s DisplayPort output supports MST and that the hub supports your intended monitor connections and modes.
- Connect the hub to the mini PC, then connect each monitor to the hub with suitable cables.
- Select the correct input on each monitor and configure the displays in your operating system.
For MST, the monitors share the available display bandwidth. Check the mini PC and hub specifications against the combined resolution and refresh-rate requirements of both screens instead of assuming that each can reach its advertised maximum at the same time. Set the monitors to extend the desktop
Once both monitors are connected and showing a picture, use the operating system’s display settings to detect them if necessary. Choose the extend-desktop option rather than mirroring if you want a separate workspace on each screen, then arrange the displays so the cursor moves between them in the same direction as the physical layout. Available controls and labels depend on your operating system.
Troubleshoot connection problems
- No picture on either screen: Make sure the mini PC is on, reseat the cables, and check that each monitor is set to the input actually connected to it.
- Only one monitor appears: Check whether the exact mini PC model supports two simultaneous displays on the outputs you chose. For USB-C, verify video output support on that port; for an MST hub, verify source-side MST support.
- A preferred resolution or refresh rate is missing: Check the limits of the mini PC’s graphics output, any adapter or hub, the cables, and both monitors. With MST, include the combined bandwidth required by the two displays.
- A hub setup is unstable or a monitor is not detected: Reseat the connections, check driver and MST compatibility, and use the applicable operating-system or device controls to rescan for displays.

- Whether the mini PC explicitly supports both chosen outputs at the same time.
- Whether the USB-C port carries DisplayPort video, or the DisplayPort output supports MST.
- Whether the PC, hub or adapter, cables, and monitors support the combined resolution and refresh-rate target.
- Whether the cable or adapter outputs match the monitors’ available inputs.
- Whether you prefer a direct connection with separate cables or a hub that consolidates connections.
