Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteTo connect a Chromecast to a Westinghouse TV, plug it into an open HDMI port, power it with the supplied adapter, select that HDMI input on the TV, then finish setup in the Google Home app. The exact remote button and menu labels vary by Westinghouse model, so look for “Input” or “Source” or consult your TV manual.
Connect Chromecast and select the right input
- Plug Chromecast into an open HDMI port. Note the port number, such as HDMI 1 or HDMI 2. Google’s general setup guidance is to use any open HDMI input; port placement varies by TV model. If the device cannot fit comfortably, follow the instructions for the components included with your Chromecast.
- Connect it to power. Use the cable and power adapter supplied with your Chromecast, then plug the adapter into a wall outlet. Google recommends the included power components. Chromecast Ultra specifically requires its included power supply; it will not work from a TV USB port or another USB cable.
- Switch the TV to that HDMI input. Turn on the Westinghouse TV and use the remote’s Input or Source control to select the port where Chromecast is connected. Some remotes may use different wording. Google advises changing inputs until the Chromecast home screen appears.
See Google’s Chromecast connection instructions for general HDMI and power guidance. They do not specify Westinghouse model-specific port locations or remote labels.

Finish setup in Google Home
Use a phone or tablet to open or install the Google Home app and follow its Chromecast setup prompts. Have your Wi-Fi network name and password and Google Account ready. If you plan to use a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network, the setup phone or tablet must support 5 GHz.
- Keep the phone or tablet nearby and follow the in-app instructions to find and configure the Chromecast.
- Choose the Wi-Fi network and provide its password when prompted. If the network name is hidden, enter the network name and security details manually in Google Home.
- Once setup is complete, open a Chromecast-enabled app or Chrome and select the Chromecast to begin casting.
Google’s Chromecast setup requirements and device-discovery troubleshooting explain the network and phone requirements.

Fix “No signal” or a black screen
Start with the input: the TV must be set to the same HDMI port that the Chromecast occupies. If the selected input is correct, work through these checks:
- Confirm the Chromecast is receiving power from its supplied cable and adapter.
- Unplug and reseat the HDMI connection, then select the matching HDMI input again.
- Power-cycle the TV and Chromecast, then check the input once more.
- If the screen remains blank, try the Chromecast on another TV with an HDMI input, if one is available. This can help separate a device problem from a problem with the original TV or input, but does not by itself identify a Westinghouse-specific fault.
Google’s black-screen troubleshooting steps cover power cycling and checking the input.

If Google Home cannot find Chromecast
- Keep the setup phone near the router and Chromecast, and check that the Wi-Fi signal is strong and the network name is visible. Google recommends a phone-to-device distance of 15–20 feet (4–6 meters) during discovery.
- For 5 GHz Wi-Fi, make sure the phone or tablet supports 5 GHz.
- Restart the router and Chromecast, reopen Google Home, and try setup again.
- If the Wi-Fi network is hidden, enter its name and security details manually in the app.
Follow Google’s device-discovery troubleshooting guidance if discovery still fails.

HDMI-CEC input switching
On supported TVs, HDMI-CEC can switch the TV to the Chromecast input when casting. This depends on the TV’s CEC support and settings, and Google says Chromecast must be powered from a wall outlet for this behavior. The available guidance does not establish which Westinghouse models support it or what their CEC setting is called; check the manual for your exact model. If automatic switching is unavailable, selecting the HDMI input with the remote remains the standard approach.

Resolution depends on the Chromecast, TV, and content
Chromecast models have different output capabilities. Google lists Chromecast with Google TV (HD) for up to 1080p HDR at 60 fps and Chromecast with Google TV (4K) for up to 4K Ultra HD at up to 60 fps. Actual viewing resolution also depends on the TV, content, and connection conditions; owning a 4K-capable Chromecast does not mean every Westinghouse TV supports 4K or HDR.
Power requirements also differ by model: Google’s listed basic Chromecast specification uses a 5 V, 1 A supply, while the Chromecast with Google TV models listed use 5 V, 1.5 A. Use the power supply included with your particular device rather than applying one model’s rating to another. Check Google’s Chromecast specifications for model details.
