Choose the Tail 2’s output workflow first, then set its video format, resolution, frame rate and bitrate to suit the receiving platform and connection. OBSBOT documents those general encoding controls in the camera’s Web UI under Network; it does not prescribe one resolution, frame rate or bitrate for every use.
Choose the output path before changing settings
The right configuration depends on how the video will reach your production setup. Direct RTMP sends the camera stream to a platform; SRT sends it to a compatible receiver; NDI and UVC are other documented output paths; HDMI is a separate video output. SRT has specific incompatibilities, so choose it deliberately rather than assuming it can run alongside every other output.

Set general video encoding in the Web UI
For network workflows, OBSBOT identifies H.264, resolution, frame rate and bitrate as configurable video encoding controls under Network in the Tail 2 Web UI. The UI also includes NDI source and network options. To access the Web UI using the described browser-based methods, put the camera and the controlling browser on the same network. See the OBSBOT Tail 2 guide for the manufacturer’s access instructions.
- Connect the Tail 2 and the computer or phone running its browser interface to the same network.
- Open the Tail 2 Web UI and select Network.
- Choose H.264 and set the available resolution, frame rate and bitrate controls for the destination and production chain.
- Apply the configuration, then verify the resulting video in the receiving software or platform before going live.
There is no single manufacturer-prescribed bitrate or resolution in the cited guide. Match these values to the destination’s requirements, available connection and the rest of the production setup rather than relying on a universal preset.

Configure a direct RTMP stream
For direct streaming, obtain the stream URL and key from the platform that will receive the broadcast. OBSBOT’s documented workflow uses OBSBOT Start or OBSBOT Live to add the RTMP connection and start the configured stream.
- In the destination platform, locate the stream URL and stream key for the broadcast.
- In OBSBOT Start or OBSBOT Live, add an RTMP connection and enter the platform’s URL and key.
- Select or confirm the stream configuration and start the stream.
In OBSBOT Live, the documented flow also asks whether to enable Full Recording while streaming. This is an in-app choice for that workflow; the available documentation does not establish that every RTMP workflow offers the same recording controls. Set up SRT only when its output restrictions fit
Before enabling SRT, account for its output limitations: OBSBOT says UVC, RTSP, NDI and Live Stream are unavailable while SRT is enabled. SRT works over Wi-Fi or a wired connection. The receiving end must also be configured for SRT, with the Tail 2 and receiver assigned compatible, opposite caller/listener roles.

- In the Tail 2’s Media Settings, set the SRT parameters and the desired resolution and frame rate.
- Configure the receiving software or device for SRT using the corresponding caller/listener role and matching connection details.
- Connect over Wi-Fi or wired networking, then confirm the receiver gets video.

Choose HDMI output resolution separately
OBSBOT Center’s update dated November 26, 2025 added HDMI output choices of Auto, 4K, 1080P and 1080i for firmware 7.2.9.1. This is an HDMI output setting, not a bitrate or resolution control for network encoding. The update states that 4K is not supported in portrait orientation. It also says that when maximum recording, NDI, RTSP or SRT frame rates are 30, 29.97 or 25, HDMI supports 1080i. Check the applicable firmware and OBSBOT Center version before looking for these choices; the update details are on the OBSBOT Center update page.

The Web UI’s Settings interface can show SD card capacity and format the card. The cited Tail 2 guide does not specify card speed classes, recommended capacities, recording bitrates or recording-duration estimates, so use the camera’s current support material for any media requirements rather than assuming a card specification.

- Check that the intended output and orientation are selected before a session.
- Confirm the receiving platform or software displays video at the expected resolution and frame rate.
- If recording locally, verify the SD card is present and has sufficient free space for your session.
