Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →For YouTube streaming over 4G, start OBS at 720p30, use a bitrate that stays comfortably below your measured, sustained upload speed, and test the actual connection before going live. YouTube recommends 4 Mbps for H.264 at 720p30 and a 2-second keyframe interval; neither setting can guarantee an uninterrupted stream on a variable mobile connection.
Set a conservative OBS starting point
There is no special India-specific OBS preset in the official guidance, and no configuration can ensure continuous service when mobile coverage, congestion, or the carrier route changes. Treat YouTube’s encoder settings as platform recommendations, then choose a bitrate your own 4G link can sustain.

Start at 720p30
Use 1280×720 resolution at 30 frames per second for the first test rather than beginning at a higher resolution or frame rate. YouTube recommends an H.264 bitrate of 4 Mbps for 720p30. For comparison, its recommendation for 1080p30 is 5 Mbps. These are encoder recommendations, not evidence that your connection can reliably deliver those rates.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesLeave upload headroom
OBS’s connection troubleshooting guidance suggests starting with a video bitrate around 75% of total upload speed. On 4G, do not base that decision on one speed-test result: upload capacity can vary, and other devices or applications may use the same connection. If the stable upload available to OBS cannot support the target, lower the bitrate and, if needed, reduce resolution or frame rate, then test again.

Set the keyframe interval
Use a 2-second keyframe interval. YouTube recommends 2 seconds and says not to exceed 4 seconds. In OBS, choose an encoder supported by your computer and confirm during testing that it is not struggling with rendering or encoding; there is no one encoder preset established for every computer.

In OBS output settings, enter the video bitrate you selected, set the keyframe interval to 2 seconds, and confirm the output resolution and frame rate match your intended stream.
Test the real 4G route before going live
-
Run a private or otherwise suitable test stream before an important broadcast. Match the planned content as closely as practical, including motion and audio; a static test screen may not reveal the same encoding or network demands.
-
Watch YouTube’s stream health and OBS’s dropped-frame count during the test. OBS identifies network-dropped frames as a sign that the connection is unstable or cannot keep up with the configured bitrate.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy. -
If dropped frames rise, lower the bitrate and repeat the test. Change one major setting at a time where possible, so you can tell whether the result improved.

Keep competing uploads and downloads off the connection where practical. Test under conditions similar to the planned broadcast, including the computer’s location and how it connects to the mobile network.
Choose a connection arrangement that fits your location
Tethering a phone may be convenient; a 4G router with Ethernet may give a computer a dedicated local network connection. Neither arrangement creates additional capacity at the cell tower or prevents cellular congestion and carrier outages. A router changes the local setup, not the underlying mobile service.
Compare available carriers and test at the actual streaming location and time of day. TRAI’s quality-of-service material describes regulation and reporting, but it does not establish a dependable upload rate for a particular address or identify a nationwide best carrier. See TRAI’s Quality of Service information.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Troubleshoot OBS dropping frames or disconnecting
| What you see | Likely issue | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| Network-dropped frames increase in OBS | The connection is unstable or cannot sustain the configured bitrate. | Lower the bitrate first, then repeat a representative test. Reduce resolution or frame rate if necessary. |
| OBS disconnects or YouTube stream health worsens intermittently | The mobile connection or route to the ingest server may be unstable; OBS is not necessarily the cause. | Retest with less competing network traffic. Compare connection arrangements or available carriers at the same location, and test again. |
| Frames are lost despite a strong speed-test result | A single result may not represent sustained upload during the stream. | Use a lower bitrate with more headroom and monitor the actual test stream rather than relying on the speed test alone. |
| OBS reports rendering or encoding overload | The computer may not be keeping up with the chosen output settings. | Confirm the encoder is supported and reduce output demands, then verify performance in another test. |
Use dynamic bitrate only as a fallback
OBS documents “Dynamically change bitrate to manage congestion (Beta)” as an option that can lower bitrate instead of dropping frames when the connection cannot keep up. It may reduce image quality and does not fix the underlying network problem, so treat it as a fallback rather than a continuity guarantee. See OBS’s stream connection troubleshooting guide.

Check YouTube’s encoder guidance and content rules
Use YouTube’s current live encoder guidance to verify bitrate and keyframe recommendations for your selected codec and output format: Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions. Technical settings do not determine whether content is permitted. Before broadcasting, make sure you have rights to the video, music, and other material in the stream, and review YouTube’s copyright and reused-content rules for your channel and intended use.
Or let it run in the cloud
