You can use Restreamer to publish an already-running video feed to YouTube Live: configure a source, create a YouTube Publication Service, enter your YouTube streaming ID, save, and start the service. That sets up the outgoing live stream; it does not, by itself, make a finite video file replay from the beginning. The Restreamer documentation reviewed here does not establish a native file-loop control, so the repeat behavior must be handled by the source or another playout method.
Understand the two parts of a YouTube Live loop
A continuous YouTube broadcast has two separate jobs: something must keep producing the video and audio, and an encoder or service must publish that ongoing feed to YouTube. Restreamer’s Publication Service handles the publishing job. Its documented YouTube setup does not show a control that repeats a finite file indefinitely. See Restreamer’s Publication services and Processing and Control documentation.

So, if your goal is a loop, first arrange for the source or playout system to keep supplying repeated content. Then configure Restreamer to send that feed to YouTube. Do not assume that starting a YouTube publication service will restart a video when it reaches its end.

Prepare a working Restreamer channel
Restreamer needs a configured video source before you can publish it. Its setup wizard covers source configuration, with options described for network sources and inputs such as hardware, a Raspberry Pi camera, USB, and SRT. The Restreamer wizard guide explains source and audio setup. For installation, consult the Quick Start; it describes Docker-based installation and treats YouTube as an optional publication destination.

Check that the feed has audio
Check the source’s audio settings before saving. The wizard notes that some destinations, including YouTube, require an active audio channel. If the video has no sound, Restreamer recommends configuring a silent audio channel rather than leaving the audio input absent.
Confirm the repeat behavior outside the publication step
Before going live, verify that your chosen source or playout method continues to produce the intended program after the content reaches its end. The Restreamer pages cited here explain source configuration and output controls, but do not document a specific finite-file repeat workflow or a native “loop” switch. The exact method therefore depends on the source you use.

Create and start the YouTube Publication Service
- Obtain a valid YouTube streaming ID. Use YouTube’s live-stream setup to create or select the broadcast and obtain its stream key/ID. YouTube Studio labels and steps can change, so follow the current prompts shown in your account. Keep the key private: anyone who has it may be able to send video to your stream.
- Open Restreamer’s Publication Service controls. Choose YouTube as the destination, enter the valid YouTube streaming ID, and save the service. Restreamer’s YouTube guide documents this destination setup.
- Start the service. Start the YouTube publication from Restreamer after the source is configured and running. Check the main Restreamer window for the outgoing bitrate indicator; the guide describes this as a way to confirm the connection.
- Verify the event in YouTube. Confirm that YouTube receives the live feed and that picture and sound are present before relying on the broadcast. A connected output is not proof that the source is repeating correctly, so check that separately over a full content cycle.
End the broadcast without cutting off YouTube’s archive
After the event, end the stream on YouTube first, then stop Restreamer’s output. The Restreamer guide warns that interrupting the output in Restreamer first can prevent YouTube from saving the event to its DVR archive. Its instruction is explicit: “Always end the stream on YouTube first after an event.”

Troubleshoot common setup failures
