To remove WooCommerce files only, deactivate and delete the plugin from WordPress. To permanently erase WooCommerce data as well, add WooCommerce’s removal constant to wp-config.php before deactivating and deleting it. These are different operations: ordinary plugin deletion normally leaves store data in the database, while full data removal is destructive and permanent.
Choose what you want to remove
| Goal | What to do | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Remove the plugin files | Deactivate WooCommerce, then delete it from the Plugins screen. | Removes the plugin; WooCommerce database data normally remains. |
| Remove the plugin and WooCommerce data | Set WC_REMOVE_ALL_DATA in wp-config.php before deactivating and deleting WooCommerce. |
WooCommerce says this removes data such as products, order data, and coupons. The operation is destructive and permanent. |
| Also drop Action Scheduler tables | Use the separate WC_REMOVE_ACTION_SCHEDULER constant only when you are certain no other plugin uses Action Scheduler. |
Removes shared scheduler tables that WooCommerce otherwise leaves in place to protect other plugins’ scheduled tasks. |
Remove WooCommerce plugin files only
Use this path if you are troubleshooting, reinstalling, or no longer want the plugin but want to retain the store data. WordPress’s normal plugin removal flow is deactivation followed by deletion.

- In WordPress administration, open Plugins.
- Find WooCommerce and select Deactivate.
- After it is deactivated, select Delete and confirm if prompted.
If WordPress cannot delete it from the dashboard, WordPress documents manually removing the WooCommerce plugin folder from wp-content/plugins using a remote file manager. Manual folder removal deletes plugin files; it is not a database wipe. See WordPress’s plugin management instructions.
Permanently remove WooCommerce data too
WooCommerce documents full data removal as a destructive, permanent action. Back up the site and database, and verify that the backup can be restored, before proceeding. Do not use this procedure if you only intend to reinstall WooCommerce or fix a plugin problem.
- Open the site’s
wp-config.phpfile for editing. - Add this line on its own line above the comment
/* That's all, stop editing! */:define( 'WC_REMOVE_ALL_DATA', true ); - Save the file. The constant must be present before WooCommerce is deactivated and deleted; adding it after deletion will not trigger cleanup retroactively.
- In WordPress administration, open Plugins, deactivate WooCommerce, then delete it.
WooCommerce says this removal includes store data such as products, order data, and coupons. Follow its official instructions at Uninstall and remove all WooCommerce Data.
Should you remove Action Scheduler tables?
Usually, do not add the extra scheduler-removal setting. Action Scheduler tables may be shared with another plugin, so WooCommerce leaves them in place when WC_REMOVE_ALL_DATA is used.

Only if you have established that no other active plugin uses Action Scheduler does WooCommerce document adding this separate line to wp-config.php, also before deactivation and deletion:

That setting is distinct from the general WooCommerce data-removal constant; do not enable it merely to make cleanup seem more complete.

WooCommerce’s core removal instructions do not guarantee what each extension, custom integration, or theme modification will remove. Check the uninstall instructions for each related plugin, and remove WooCommerce-specific code added to the theme where applicable. WordPress recommends consulting plugin-specific uninstall guidance and checking for code added to a theme: WordPress Housekeeping.
These general instructions do not establish a universal cleanup method for third-party services or custom site data. Avoid deleting database tables by hand unless you have a verified, component-specific procedure; shared data can be missed or disrupted.
