An AllThingsHow guide dated October 9, 2026 reports four Kado Thorne Map Mastery quests on each of three Reload maps. The guide says these are separate by map and count only in Reload. It lists the following requirements for each map:

Prioritize the island-specific elimination target

- Map-specific eliminations: On the required island, build the local elimination counter while also pursuing the broader elimination total reported for that map set.
- Placement or wins: Choose a survival-minded approach when Top 5 finishes or Victory Royales are the remaining bottleneck; a win can advance both.
- Any remaining Reload-only XP quests: Add them to the plan only if their actions fit naturally into the match you are already playing.

Adapt your tactics to Reload’s team and match phases
Reload is team-focused: Epic describes a mode where players can reboot while their squad remains active, and eliminating opponents speeds teammate reboots. But an unnecessary fight can also remove your squad’s chance to place well or win. Choose engagements with the objective and your team’s position in mind rather than chasing every opponent.
Epic’s Reload page describes matches with 40 players, though playlist and mode details can change. That number is context, not a reason to assume every match offers the same pace or number of opportunities. A match’s island, squad status, opponents, and late-game situation all affect what you can reasonably accomplish. Avoid basing your plan on a promised number of eliminations per match or an estimated completion time.
Late match: protect placement and win progress
As the match approaches its final portion, the value of staying alive rises if you still need Top 5 finishes or victories. The Click’s tactical guidance for these quests advises avoiding unnecessary fights when survival or a win is the remaining goal and not chasing opponents away from the safe zone. This is situational advice, not a promise that avoiding combat will produce a faster completion.

A practical switch is to reassess after each major fight: if the team has already earned the eliminations it needs for the current objective, prioritize reaching the safe area and preserving the squad’s chance to place. If eliminations are still the priority and your team is in a favorable position, continuing to engage may make more sense.

Map availability is the main scheduling risk for objectives tied to a particular island. A secondary guide, The Click, reported that Surf City was scheduled to be replaced by Squid Grounds on October 15, 2026, but that date was close to the guide’s October 9 publication and could change. Epic’s October 2 update confirms the October 8 season launch, but it does not establish a final end date for the Kado Thorne quest track or say whether progress transfers when a map leaves rotation.
Because automatic conversion or transfer has not been confirmed in those sources, do not assume an unfinished island objective will carry over or remain playable after rotation. Check the in-game timer and prioritize a map-specific objective while its island is available. If the schedule or Quest screen changes, follow the current in-game information rather than treating a third-party date as guaranteed.

Keep that set distinct from the Map Mastery completion count: progress on an optional XP quest is not automatically one of the reported Map Mastery completions. The milestones make it useful to track completed quests, not just the most visible reward. For example, a player with two completions has reached the first reported cosmetic threshold, while another two completions would reach the next. Do not assume that completing a separate XP quest contributes to those milestone counts; the guide distinguishes “Locked and Reloaded” from Map Mastery. Completing the Reload objectives is the direct route to their reported XP and cosmetic milestones. Epic Player Support also describes other XP sources, including daily quests that reset daily, weekly quests that refresh on Tuesdays, match play, eligible Creative maps up to a daily cap, Supercharged XP after a day or more away, periodic Double XP events, and Victory Crowns. Those can help with broader account progression, but none replaces a specific Map Mastery requirement such as eliminations on a named island or a required number of wins.
If a quest’s only remaining value to you is XP, other eligible activities may fit your play schedule. If the goal is a particular Reload cosmetic or objective completion, return to the Reload tracker and finish the listed task rather than substituting general XP activity.
Prioritize the Reload list when your goal is one of its event rewards. Daily or weekly quests may be convenient to complete alongside normal play, but their reset schedule does not change the conditions for a map-bound Reload objective. Eligible Creative XP also has a daily cap, so it is not an unlimited substitute for the XP attached to completing the specific objectives. - Progress appeared on one map but not another: The October 9 guide says map progress is separate. Confirm the island named by the objective and track its counter independently.
- A placement or win did not count: Check the exact result condition in the live quest wording, then inspect the Quest screen after the match. Do not infer that an older guide’s description overrides the current in-game objective.
