Zenefits onboarding has two sides: an administrator prepares the new hire, while the employee registers an account and completes the onboarding steps shown to them. The exact administrator screens and sequence are not documented in the public help pages, so use your signed-in company account for the current instructions rather than relying on guessed button names.
For employees: register and complete your assigned steps
- Start with your employer’s account invitation or registration instructions. Use the instructions provided by your employer to register your account.
- Complete the onboarding items presented in your account. The steps available may depend on your employer’s setup.
- Open your dashboard. TriNet’s New Hire Onboarding course describes the employee workflow broadly as registering an account, completing onboarding steps, and accessing the dashboard. Its four-minute label is the course duration, not an estimate of how long your own onboarding will take.
For administrators: use the employer-side onboarding and hiring resources
Start with the separate Administrator Onboarding and Employee Onboarding resources in the Getting Started section. The public help center identifies these as distinct resources, but does not provide a complete public sequence for adding or inviting a new employee.

Use the hiring process configured for your company, then follow the tasks shown for that employee in your account. TriNet’s Hiring training catalog includes courses about hiring a new employee and verifying I-9 documents. Which tasks apply depends on your company’s setup and the employee’s situation.
Handle I-9 verification and benefits when applicable
I-9 verification
The Hiring training catalog includes a course on verifying an employee’s I-9 documents. Follow your employer’s applicable process and the instructions available in the signed-in account; the public course listing does not establish a universal click-by-click workflow.

Insurance enrollment
TriNet’s insurance-enrollment course describes verifying information, selecting or declining plans, completing an application, and approving a selection. The available plans and exact process vary by employer, so follow the options presented in your account.
Mobile enrollment
A separate mobile-app enrollment course covers enrollment from the app. It is a distinct training resource, not evidence that every employer enables the same plans or mobile workflow.

Find detailed instructions in the signed-in help center
The public TriNet help center says users need to sign in to search and view all help articles. Sign in to the employer’s account before looking for instructions on a specific administrator control or a missing onboarding step.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteBecause the public pages do not show the current administrator screens, they do not establish invitation timing, required data, button labels, or a fixed screen sequence. Confirm those details in your company account rather than assuming they are the same for every employer.
