Start New Growth first, then follow Heidi’s apartment lead, wait for Zoe’s follow-up call to unlock the hospital investigation, and finish the factory encounter by returning to Heidi for the final conversation. The route and rewards below are reported by third-party guides, not confirmed by an official walkthrough; if a trigger differs, check your current quest log.
Before you start Carbon Copy
PowerPyx places the quest start at The Park’s FBC Base and says to start New Growth before pursuing Carbon Copy. Its guide also reports that the Budding Mycologist achievement or trophy requires both New Growth and the complete Carbon Copy chain. PowerPyx’s Carbon Copy guide is a quest index; the detailed directions below come from an unofficial fan walkthrough that cautions that not all details have been independently tested.

Carbon Copy I: Find Hannah
- After starting New Growth, go to the Central Park building and speak with Heidi, who is described as wearing a pink jacket.
- Take the Old Apartment Key, then reach the southern apartment by way of the rooftop access.
- Search the apartment for Hannah.
- Return to Heidi and complete the conversation. The walkthrough reports Untapped Mother’s Locket as the Part I reward.
The return conversation is the completion check: do not stop after searching the apartment. These locations and item details are reported by the unofficial Carbon Copy walkthrough; it does not provide independently tested screenshots or controller-level directions.
Carbon Copy II: Follow Zoe’s call and investigate the hospital
Part II is reported to begin with Zoe’s follow-up radio call after Part I. The guide does not establish a fixed wait time or a particular story milestone that guarantees the call, so do not treat its absence immediately after Part I as proof that your save is broken.

- Speak with Dr. Florez and inspect Hannah’s medical unit.
- Return to the apartment and go into the bathroom.
- Interact with the body and report it. According to the walkthrough, entering the room without completing this interaction is not enough to advance the quest.
If Part II has not appeared
- Confirm that New Growth has been started.
- Make sure you finished Heidi’s return conversation in Part I.
- Wait for Zoe’s follow-up call, then use the quest log to locate the hospital objective.
This troubleshooting order follows the unofficial guide’s reported triggers. It gives no exact time or alternate trigger for Zoe’s call.
Carbon Copy III: Reach the factory and confront Hannah
- Check the apartment roof, then follow the trail north.
- Speak with Heidi near the power-core station.
- Use the Park Factory Key at the nearby factory to enter.
- Confront Hannah.
- After the fight, return to Heidi and finish the conversation. The fight alone does not complete the reported quest route.
The guide reports Untapped Medical Alert Bands and a Talent Point as Part III rewards. It also suggests using fire during the fight, moving out of mold puddles, and watching Hannah as the encounter changes levels. Those are the guide’s tactical suggestions, not independently tested combat findings.

According to the guides, Budding Mycologist requires both New Growth and all three Carbon Copy parts. For Carbon Copy itself, complete the return dialogue after the Part I apartment search and again after the Part III factory fight; for the reported combined achievement or trophy condition, complete New Growth as well. PowerPyx lists the prerequisite and combined condition, while the detailed walkthrough supplies the route and reward reports.
