Choose the result that matches your question

Check what counts as a match
Capitalization and spaces
If the comparison is case-sensitive, Apple and apple may be treated as different entries. Leading, trailing, repeated, or invisible spaces can also create apparent mismatches. Turn off case sensitivity or use whitespace cleanup only when those differences do not matter for your data. [ListDiff.com guide; RAW.org]

Leading zeros
007 and 7 are different text values, though a tool may offer an option to ignore leading zeros. Keep zeros when they form part of an identifier, such as a code where 007 is not interchangeable with 7. [ListDiff.com guide]
Repeated entries
Decide whether you care about membership or counts. A membership comparison asks whether a value appears at all; an occurrence-aware comparison also considers how many times it appears. The RAW.org guide describes repeated values being compared by occurrence count until duplicates are removed, while the ListDiff.com guide says duplicates are collapsed for comparison. Check the selected tool’s behavior rather than assuming repeats are preserved. [RAW.org; ListDiff.com guide]

Watch out for multi-column CSV files
A CSV upload may compare each entire row as one item, rather than matching records using a column you choose. ListDiff.com says its uploaded CSV is read as plain text, with all columns in a row treated together, and recommends a single-column file. If you need to compare records by an ID or other key, extract that column first or use a workflow that explicitly supports selecting a comparison column. [ListDiff.com]
Use a text diff for edits within lines
List comparison is for finding complete entries that are exclusive to one side or shared by both. If you need to see changed wording, character edits, or line order in a document, use a text diff instead. [ListDiff.org; ListDiff.com guide]

Consider privacy before pasting sensitive data
Some providers state that processing happens in the browser and that input is not sent to a server. Those are provider statements, not an independent security audit.
