These figures are published on NanoReview’s chipset comparison page. Scores can vary with the phone, cooling, memory configuration, software, benchmark version and test conditions. The page does not establish a controlled protocol using matched devices, and it lists no Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 result for its 3DMark Wild Life entry. The figures therefore indicate a reported benchmark advantage for the 8s Gen 3, not a guaranteed performance gap in every phone or workload.
Which chipset is better for gaming, cameras and connectivity?
Gaming and demanding apps
The published benchmark results and Qualcomm’s higher-tier positioning favor the 8s Gen 3 as a starting point for demanding workloads. They do not show how long a specific phone can sustain performance: cooling design, power limits and software tuning affect prolonged gaming and heavy use. No controlled sustained-load comparison between phones using these chips has been published.
Connectivity
Qualcomm lists Wi-Fi 7 and an X70 modem for the 8s Gen 3, while its 7s Gen 4 page highlights Wi-Fi 6E and a 5G platform. A phone must implement and support the relevant capability, and the result also depends on compatible networks and equipment. The chip specification alone does not confirm a phone’s exact wireless features.

Camera and charging features
The listed 18-bit ISP and Quick Charge 5 give the 8s Gen 3 higher-tier platform features than the 7s Gen 4’s listed 12-bit ISP and Quick Charge 4+. These labels do not establish a phone’s camera quality or charging time. Sensors, lenses, image processing, charger support and handset design all matter.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How should you choose between phones using these chips?
Compare complete phones, not processor names in isolation. Before buying, check:
- Price: compare the actual prices of the specific models and their memory and storage configurations.
- Cooling and sustained performance: look for testing of the phone itself if you play demanding games or run heavy tasks for long sessions.
- Battery: compare capacity and independent device-level battery results; the chipset specifications here do not establish which phone lasts longer.
- Camera and display: assess the handset’s actual sensors, image processing, display and supported features rather than inferring quality from the ISP alone.
- Software support: check the manufacturer’s update policy for the specific model.
- Connectivity and charging: confirm the phone implements the Wi-Fi and charging features you need, and check charger compatibility.
If two phones are otherwise comparable, the 8s Gen 3’s listed platform features and NanoReview benchmark figures make it the stronger paper choice. A better-cooled, better-priced or longer-supported phone with the 7s Gen 4 may still be the better purchase for an individual buyer.
