CPU-Monkey’s aggregated Geekbench 5 results favor the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 over the Dimensity 7020 in both single-core and multi-core scores. That is a useful comparison signal, not a controlled test of two phones: handset design, software, cooling, and configuration can change real-world results. On paper, Qualcomm lists a 4 nm platform and version-dependent CPU speeds up to 2.5 GHz, while MediaTek specifies Cortex-A78 and Cortex-A55 cores on a TSMC N6 (6 nm-class) process.
Geekbench 5 results: Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 leads in CPU-Monkey’s aggregates
CPU-Monkey’s comparison page, last updated September 21, 2026, reports the following Geekbench 5 aggregate scores. It shows 2,513 single-core entries and 2,484 multi-core entries; these are database results, not scores from a matched-phone test.

| Geekbench 5 metric | Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 | Dimensity 7020 |
|---|---|---|
| Single-core | 788 | 696 |
| Multi-core | 2,932 | 1,877 |
In this set of entries, the Snapdragon scores higher on both measures. The comparison does not establish how the chips perform in identical phones, under the same thermal conditions, or with the same software. Geekbench 5 figures also should not be mixed with Geekbench 6 results as though they were one ranking. For a purchase decision, use independent tests of the exact handset models under comparable conditions.
CPU architecture and clock speeds
Snapdragon 7 Gen 1
Qualcomm describes the CPU as Kryo and lists platform versions with maximum CPU speeds of up to 2.5 GHz or 2.4 GHz. Its footnote says maximum speed varies by platform version and directs readers to the phone maker’s specifications. Check the specific handset rather than assuming every Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 phone uses the same clock configuration. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 specifications.

Dimensity 7020
MediaTek specifies an eight-core CPU with Arm Cortex-A78 cores up to 2.2 GHz and Cortex-A55 cores up to 2 GHz. These published core types and clock ceilings describe the platform; clock speed alone does not determine which phone feels faster. MediaTek’s Dimensity 7020 specifications.
Graphics, memory, storage, display, and camera support
MediaTek names the Dimensity 7020’s GPU as the IMG BXM-8-256 and lists support for LPDDR5 or LPDDR4x memory and two-lane UFS 3.1 storage. Its stated display ceiling is 2520 × 1080 at 120 Hz, and its camera input support reaches 108 MP. These are platform capabilities, not a guarantee that a phone includes the maximum configuration.

Qualcomm identifies an Adreno GPU and says the platform’s Spectra ISP supports simultaneous capture from three cameras and capture up to 200 MP. Qualcomm’s claim that graphics rendering is over 20% faster refers to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 compared with its predecessor, not the Dimensity 7020; it is not evidence of a head-to-head graphics lead. Neither platform specification alone settles gaming performance: the handset’s cooling, software, display resolution, and implementation matter.
Manufacturing process and connectivity
Qualcomm lists the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 at 4 nm. MediaTek identifies the Dimensity 7020 process as TSMC N6, a 6 nm-class process. These labels do not by themselves establish battery life, heat, or sustained performance in a phone.

For connectivity, MediaTek lists 5G carrier aggregation, dual 5G standalone, Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 5.2. Qualcomm lists an X62 modem-RF platform and FastConnect 6700, with Wi-Fi 6/6E among its capabilities. Whether a particular feature works depends on the handset model, regional variant, carrier, and manufacturer implementation.
