To compare screenshot API latency from Mumbai and Singapore, run the same capture workload from verified client locations in both cities, then compare end-to-end completion time, capture success, repeatability, and cost. Keep provider-reported render time separate from what your client measures, and verify where the provider’s browser worker runs: a nearby API endpoint alone does not prove the screenshot was rendered nearby.
Define what “from Mumbai” and “from Singapore” means
A screenshot request crosses several potentially different locations. Record each separately before calling a result a Mumbai or Singapore comparison:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Benchmark client: where the script or machine sending the API request runs.
- API ingress: the endpoint or region receiving that request.
- Browser worker: where the provider’s browser actually opens and captures the target page.
- Target-site route: where the page is served from, including any proxy or routing configuration.
If the provider cannot document or confirm its browser-worker location, describe your results as a comparison of client locations, not render locations. API ingress and browser-worker geography are different facts. For example, ScreenshotMAX documents Asia-Pacific API infrastructure in Taiwan and recommends selecting a domain near client systems; that does not establish a Mumbai browser worker. Shotbot lists Singapore among screenshot-worker egress regions, but Mumbai is not listed in the cited documentation excerpt. Check the providers’ current documentation or ask them to confirm regions before labeling the test. See ScreenshotMAX API Domains documentation and Shotbot documentation.

Choose comparable screenshot workloads
Latency depends on what the browser has to do and when the service considers the capture complete. Start with a common-settings test across every provider and both client locations. Use the same target URLs and match these options wherever possible:
#1 Best Overall
- VERSATILE CABLE TESTING: Cable tester for data (RJ45) terminated cables and patch cords, ensuring comprehensive testing capabilities
- LARGE BACKLIT LCD: Backlit LCD display enables easy reading of pin-to-pin wiremap results, even in low-lit areas
- COMPREHENSIVE FAULT DETECTION: Test for Open, Short, Miswire, Split-Pair faults, Cross-over, and Shield, providing thorough fault detection
- INTUITIVE USER INTERFACE: User-friendly interface with three buttons and simple, easy-to-identify test responses, ensuring a smooth testing experience
- MULTIPLE TONE GENERATOR STYLES: Tone on a single wire, wire pair, or all 8 conductor wires using the multiple style tone generator (solid/warble); requires probe Cat. No. VDV500-123 (sold separately)
- Viewport dimensions and device settings
- Full-page or viewport-only capture
- Output format
- Navigation wait condition and any post-load delay
- Timeout and retry policy
- Cache setting, distinguishing fresh renders from cache hits
- Authentication, cookies, and request headers required by the pages
Include page types that reflect your actual use, such as static pages and pages with delayed or JavaScript-rendered content. If a provider does not offer a matching option, record the difference rather than quietly substituting another setting. A separately optimized test can be useful, but report it separately from the common-settings result because it answers a different question. Screenshot API documentation illustrates how controls such as viewport, wait condition, delay, caching, and timeout can affect the work performed; see Screenshot API REST documentation.
Measure end-to-end completion and render time separately
Measure client-observed duration from request start until the completed image or result is available to your application. This includes network transport, API processing, browser work, and result delivery according to the provider’s response mode. If the API exposes a provider-side render-time value, log that separately; do not treat it as interchangeable with end-to-end time.

For example, Screenshot API documents the X-Render-Time-Ms and X-Page-Status response headers. Consult the provider’s definition for the render-time header. If a provider does not state exactly what its timer includes, label the value “provider-reported render time” and avoid direct cross-vendor equivalence. See Screenshot API response headers.

Run the harness on machines whose locations you have verified, or in execution environments that document their city or region. Record the provider, endpoint, target URL, capture settings, timestamp, and location with each observation. For asynchronous APIs, define completion consistently—for example, when the final image is retrieved, not merely when a job is accepted.
Repeat paired runs and keep failures in the results
- Run both locations over multiple time windows. A single request can be affected by temporary network or service load.
- Pair comparable requests. Use the same URL and settings in each city within a reasonably close time window.
- Alternate or randomize provider order. This reduces bias from always testing one provider first while conditions change.
- Validate the output. Check that the response is a usable image or PDF and represents the intended page, not merely a fast HTTP response.
- Log failures rather than dropping them. Keep timeouts, HTTP errors, blank or incomplete captures, and retries in the record.
- Report sample counts and distributions. Include the median, a tail measure such as p95, and successful-capture rate, broken out by location and workload.
State the observation period and sample count. Small samples do not support strong claims about typical or tail performance. A useful benchmark compares correctness, latency, repeatability, and effective cost under the same pages, settings, timing, and retry policy; see MobilesTalk Team’s methodology in “Screenshot API Benchmark: Compare Features, Reliability and Cost”, published September 29, 2026.

Compare more than the fastest median
| Measure | What to report | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Client-observed completion latency | Median and p95, by city and workload | Reflects the time your application waits for the result, including transport and delivery. |
| Provider-reported render duration | Value and provider’s stated timer definition, where available | Can help isolate server-side work, but definitions may differ between providers. |
| Successful-capture rate | Valid intended captures divided by attempts, with failures and incomplete results counted | A quick timeout or wrong page is not a useful screenshot. |
| Repeatability | Variation across runs, time windows, and page types | Shows whether a result is stable enough for the intended use. |
| Regional execution evidence | Client, ingress, and browser-worker locations, noting what is confirmed | Prevents an API endpoint’s location from being mistaken for render location. |
| Effective cost | Expected usage, retries, failed-job billing, cache behavior, and required output quality | A faster service may not be the better operational choice if it costs more or fails more often. |
| Feature fit | Required viewport, format, wait controls, caching, authentication, and other options | Latency is meaningful only when the capture meets the workload’s needs. |
Check current provider plans and billing terms directly; no current prices or comparable regional benchmark figures are established here. Do not turn the findings into a universal fastest-provider ranking: report which setup performed for the specific workload, locations, configuration, and measurement period.

Quick Recap
Common comparison mistakes and fixes
- Calling endpoint proximity render proximity: Record API ingress and browser-worker region separately; ask the provider if worker geography is not documented.
- Comparing different page work: Match URLs, viewport, wait rules, cache behavior, and timeouts, or disclose the mismatch.
- Timing only until job acceptance: For asynchronous capture, measure through final result retrieval.
- Counting an HTTP 200 as success: Validate content type, file readability, and that the intended page was captured.
- Removing failures from the dataset: Keep errors, timeouts, retries, and incomplete captures; report their rate alongside successful latency.
- Mixing cache hits and fresh captures: Fix cache settings for the common-settings test and label cached outcomes separately.
- Taking a single request as a verdict: Repeat paired observations across time windows and report sample size, median, tail latency, and success rate.
- Combining unlike timing headers: Check each provider’s timer definition; otherwise treat render-time values as provider-reported rather than directly comparable.
