1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTo compare home printer costs fairly, divide the current price of replacement ink by its stated page yield, then add paper cost separately. Keep the printer’s purchase price separate from ink-and-paper cost, and don’t treat different manufacturers’ yield figures as a head-to-head test. Available product data supports useful examples from Epson and Canon, but not a defensible ranking of five models.
How to calculate cost per page
Ink-only cost per page is replacement ink price divided by the manufacturer’s stated yield. For ink plus paper, add paper price per sheet. These figures estimate consumables, not the full cost of owning a printer.

HP illustrates the math with hypothetical—not current, product-specific—figures: a $30 bottle divided by a 6,000-page yield is $0.005, or half a cent, per page for ink. Its hypothetical $10 pack of 100 sheets adds $0.10 per sheet, for an illustrative combined total of $0.105 per page. The example is not a market price comparison. HP also notes that color printing uses multiple inks and costs more than black-only printing in the case it describes. HP’s cost-per-page guide
Keep hardware cost separate
A printer’s purchase price is not part of an ink-only figure. For a total-ownership comparison, add the hardware price and the expected ink and paper spending over a defined period. A break-even comparison also needs an expected print volume and time horizon; without those inputs, a lower consumables estimate does not establish which printer will cost less overall.

What the published yields say about two home all-in-ones
The figures below are manufacturer estimates, not independent household results. Their test bases differ, so the numbers should not be read as a direct ranking.

| Epson EcoTank ET-2800 | 4,500 black and 7,500 color pages for replacement T522 ink | Epson’s ISO/IEC 24712 pattern estimate. Actual yield varies with images, settings, temperature, humidity, printing frequency and print mix; some included ink is used during initial setup. Epson product page |
| Canon PIXMA G3270 MegaTank | Approximately 6,000 black and 7,700 color document pages in default mode; up to 8,300 black and 7,700 color in economy mode | Canon’s approximate document-page figures. Economy-mode figures apply through the Windows/Mac driver or printer copy setting. These are not stated on the same basis as Epson’s ISO yield. Canon MegaTank product-family page |
Canon also says one GI-21 ink set is equivalent by yield to 30 each of its standard-capacity PG-260 black and CL-261 color cartridges. That is Canon’s comparison, not an independently verified result. Canon MegaTank product-family page

Compatible replacement ink
Epson’s ET-2800 guide identifies bottles 522120 (black), 522220 (yellow), 522320 (magenta) and 522420 (cyan) as compatible. Epson cautions that realized yield also varies with paper and other usage conditions. Epson ET-2800 guide
Canon identifies GI-21 as the G3270’s ink family in its MegaTank product information. Check compatibility and current bottle prices before calculating a current cost per page; the yield figures alone do not provide the price input. Canon MegaTank product-family page

Why the lowest advertised yield calculation may not match your use
A stated yield is an estimate under a specified method or mode, not a promise that every household will get that many usable pages. The printed content, chosen settings, print frequency and maintenance can change actual output. Initial setup also consumes some ink on the Epson ET-2800. Epson and Canon describe their own yield qualifications on their product information; neither figure establishes a universal result for home users.

What to check before choosing a printer
For a useful home comparison, gather the inputs on the same date and keep unlike measurements distinct:
- Replacement ink price and compatibility: use current prices for the exact bottle or cartridge family that fits the model.
- Yield method and mode: note whether a figure is an ISO estimate, a document-page estimate, or an economy-mode maximum. Do not rank values as if they came from one test.
- Your print mix and volume: estimate black-only versus color pages and how many pages you expect to print over a defined period.
- Paper: include the paper type and its per-sheet price if estimating material cost per physical page.
- Hardware and features: compare the printer’s purchase price and the functions your household needs, such as scan/copy, duplexing, paper handling and connectivity. Those needs affect suitability, not the ink-yield arithmetic.
The available figures establish two concrete candidates, not five comparable current US models with matched supply prices. A ranked five-pick review would require comparable official yield and consumable data for additional models, plus current, date-matched prices. Without that, a method and manufacturer-qualified examples are more informative than a fabricated ranking.
