A flight alert is not necessarily a booking service, and a lifetime label alone does not guarantee how long a provider will operate or what happens if its service changes.
Start with the flights you would actually take
Write down your likely departure airports, how far you would travel to use another airport, and how flexible you are about destinations and dates. Then list the alert types you would use: economy fares, premium cabins, points or miles, mistake fares, price drops, or destination-specific alerts. Compare the exact plan tier that includes those needs; a provider’s name does not tell you what every tier covers.

Geography and personalization differ. Dollar Flight Club says its Free plan supports one departure airport and Premium supports up to four; its help page lists member availability across North America, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe. Going says it searches U.S. departure airports and describes a destination Watchlist. Dollar Flight Club says it does not take requests for specific flights and sends deals from selected departure airports. Confirm current coverage and settings on the provider’s own pages: Dollar Flight Club plans and Going’s How It Works.
Compare the actual alerts included
Cabin class and specialized fares can be gated behind different tiers. Going describes Premium as including domestic and international economy deals, while Elite adds premium economy, business, and first class. Dollar Flight Club describes Premium as covering economy and Premium Plus+ as adding premium-economy and business-class deals. Check whether the plan includes award fares, points or miles, mistake fares, or the kind of destination monitoring you want; do not infer inclusion from a general promise of “deals.” See Going’s membership details and Dollar Flight Club’s plan descriptions.

Understand the payment before comparing prices
Compare what you will pay over the period you expect to use the service, not just a headline price. The following figures are snapshots from provider pages reviewed on October 4, 2026, not guaranteed current prices:
| Provider and plan | Price shown | What the provider says it includes |
|---|---|---|
| Going Limited | Free | Limited tier; see Going’s membership page for current included features. |
| Going Premium | $49 per year, billed annually | Domestic and international economy deals and custom destination alerts. |
| Going Elite | $199 per year, billed annually | Premium features plus premium-economy, business, and first-class deals. |

Going’s amounts come from its membership page. Dollar Flight Club’s paid-plan prices and features are described in a help article dated March 13, 2026, at its plans page. Dollar Flight Club says discounts apply only to the first year when a discount is used. Check the checkout screen for the charge today, renewal amount and date, trial conversion, and any offer-specific conditions.

Read cancellation, refund, and lifetime wording carefully
Recurring membership, trial conversion, and lifetime access are distinct payment arrangements. Dollar Flight Club says paid annual plans renew automatically and are nonrefundable; its help page says discounted pricing applies only to the first year. Its refund policy describes lifetime membership as a one-time, nonrefundable payment and says it is “valid for the life of Dollar Flight Club.” That policy page was published in 2022, so verify the wording at checkout and ask the company what it means for the specific offer. The phrase does not establish that access lasts for the buyer’s lifetime or settle what happens in every service-change or closure scenario. Review Dollar Flight Club’s refund policy alongside its current checkout terms.

Before paying, save or screenshot the terms that answer these questions:
- Is the charge one-time or recurring, and what amount will be charged at renewal?
- Does a trial convert automatically, and when is cancellation due to avoid a charge?
- How do you cancel, and is any payment refundable?
- For a lifetime offer, what does “lifetime” mean in the provider’s written terms?
Check how alerts turn into tickets
A service that finds or emails a fare may not sell the ticket. Going says: “No, Going is not a travel agency, flight search engine, or travel booking site.” It says customers book through an airline or online travel agency. Read each provider’s booking instructions so you know where a fare must be purchased and how quickly you may need to act. The reviewed provider pages do not establish a guaranteed fare hold or how long a particular price will remain available. See Going’s explanation of how it works.

Treat savings claims as claims, not a forecast
Provider pages are not a shared, independently measured trial. Going publishes different average-savings figures on its membership and How It Works pages, and the reviewed pages do not establish an independent methodology for those numbers. Thrifty Traveler’s comparison with Going is written by Thrifty Traveler itself. Neither should be treated as a neutral comparison of expected results. The reviewed material does not establish comparable independent hit rates, median savings, or typical outcomes across services. Judge likely usefulness by whether relevant alerts reach your airports and match your travel flexibility, rather than assuming a vendor’s advertised savings will be yours.

- List your origins and flexibility. Include the airports you would realistically use and whether you can change dates or destinations.
- Choose the alert types you need. Separate must-haves, such as economy fares from your home airport, from optional features such as premium cabins or award alerts.
- Shortlist only plans that include them. Check each tier’s current airport, geography, cabin, and watchlist coverage.
- Calculate the cost for your likely use period. Include renewals and any price that applies after a first-year discount.
- Read and retain the exact checkout terms. Record the renewal date and amount, trial conversion, cancellation method, refund rules, and lifetime language.
- Try a free tier, trial, or clearly stated refund period if available. Observe whether alerts are relevant to your routes, while noting any automatic conversion and cancellation deadline.
A high list price does not demonstrate that a lifetime plan will pay for itself. The provider pages reviewed do not establish independently measured subscriber savings or a general guarantee of service continuity. Make the decision on the specific coverage and written terms offered, not on the word “lifetime” alone.
