Compare the itemized contents of each edition—not its “Deluxe” or “Ultimate” label. First decide which characters, stages, early access, cosmetics, or physical extras you actually want; then confirm the edition works on your platform and compare its price with the relevant pass or DLC in the same regional store. TEKKEN 8 illustrates why the details matter: its current Season 2 editions add different combinations of characters, stages, and cosmetics.
What to compare in each edition
Make the comparison using the exact game, platform, edition, and regional storefront you plan to buy from. Record what is included rather than relying on a tier name or a phrase such as “season pass.”

- Base game: Check whether the edition includes the game or whether it is an upgrade or DLC that requires a separately owned copy.
- Playable characters: Look for the fighters included, or at least the number of additional characters and the pass they belong to. A character pass may not include stages.
- Stages: Check whether battle stages are bundled with the characters or sold through a different pass.
- Access timing: Note whether the offer includes early access to future DLC, how long it lasts, and which DLC it applies to.
- Cosmetics and physical extras: Separate costumes, avatar items, steelbooks, and other collectibles from playable content.
- Platform and format: Confirm the product is for your console or PC storefront and whether the edition is physical, digital, or both.
- Price: Compare prices only within the same platform store, region, and date. Regional prices are not directly interchangeable.
TEKKEN 8: how the current editions differ
The current PlayStation US listing distinguishes four editions by their included content. The prices below were displayed on that US storefront when checked and can change; they are not universal prices. PlayStation Store: TEKKEN 8.
| Edition | Listed contents | US price displayed when checked |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | TEKKEN 8 game | $39.99 |
| Advanced | Game plus three additional playable characters | $49.99 |
| Season 2 Deluxe | Game, eight additional playable characters, and three-day early access to future DLC | $79.99 |
| Season 2 Ultimate | Season 2 Deluxe content, four additional battle stages, and cosmetic packs | $89.99 |
That breakdown makes the key distinction visible: Ultimate adds stages and cosmetics beyond Deluxe, while the Deluxe listing already includes the game, characters, and early access. If you only want fighters, those extra Ultimate items may not justify the price difference for you. If stages or cosmetics matter, identify which ones are included before paying more.

The Bandai Namco Europe TEKKEN 8 shop describes the Season 2 Deluxe and Ultimate contents similarly and identifies physical and digital format options for listed editions. Availability and formats can differ by region and platform. The publisher also says its steelbook is available only from its store and participating retailers, so check the exact retailer listing rather than assuming every physical copy includes it.
Compare an edition with buying DLC separately
Before paying for a bundle, compare it with the cost of the specific pass or DLC you want in your own store. For example, Bandai Namco’s European PC store lists a Season 2 Character Pass separately from a Season 2 Character & Battle Stage Pass. The latter requires the TEKKEN 8 Standard Edition base game. When checked, the displayed prices were €29.99 for the Character Pass and €39.99 for the Character & Battle Stage Pass; these are European PC storefront prices, not prices for other regions or platforms. See the Bandai Namco Europe PC pass listing.

- The redefined 6-button gamepad with wireless connectivity. Perfect for all SEGA’s classic Games.
- Compatible with Switch, Windows 10 or above, Android and Raspberry Pi.
- Turbo Function (unavailable on Switch).
- Bluetooth and rechargeable battery.
- Upgradeable firmware.
Do not treat the difference between a bundle price and one pass price as an automatic saving: the products may contain different items, and the store prices may change. Compare only the content you want, verify whether the base game is required, and use prices from the same storefront and region.

Edition contents can change across seasons and product listings, so check the date as well as the name. In a December 19, 2023 recap of launch editions, Bandai Namco Europe described the launch Deluxe Edition as including the game, a Year 1 pass with four additional characters and a Kinjin avatar skin, plus a Gold Suit pack with one costume for each of the 32 launch fighters. That historical launch bundle is not the same offer as the current Season 2 Deluxe listing. See Bandai Namco Europe’s launch-edition announcement.

A practical buying checklist
- Open the exact store listing. Select the platform and region you will use, then confirm the product name and current price.
- Check the base game requirement. If you already own the game, make sure you are buying a compatible upgrade or pass—not a bundle you do not need. If you do not own it, confirm that the edition includes the base game.
- Write down the additions you want. Separate playable characters and stages from early-access timing, cosmetics, and physical extras.
- Inspect the relevant pass or individual DLC. Verify the included characters and stages rather than inferring them from the pass name.
- Compare like with like. Use prices from the same platform storefront and region, and account for whether the edition includes content you would otherwise buy.
- Recheck format and retailer details. For physical editions, verify platform, included extras, and retailer-specific limitations on the live listing.
Which edition should you buy?
Choose the base game if you want to play now and do not value the bundle’s additions. Choose a higher tier when its named content—especially characters or stages you intend to use—makes sense against the cost of buying that content separately. Treat cosmetics and early access as optional value rather than assuming they make an edition better for every player.
TEKKEN 8’s listings are one concrete example, not a template for every fighting game. For another series, repeat the same check against its current platform-specific store listing: edition names, pass contents, supported formats, and prices can all differ.
