In Acrobat on a computer, choose Menu > Combine files on Windows or File > Combine files on macOS. Add your PDFs, put their files and pages in the order you want, select Combine, then name and save the new PDF. Adobe also offers combining on the web and mobile, with different storage and access requirements.
Combine PDFs in Acrobat on Windows or macOS
- Open the combine tool. In Acrobat for Windows, select Menu > Combine files. On macOS, select File > Combine files.
- Add the PDFs. Select Add Files and choose the documents, or drag and drop them into the Combine files window. If you already have PDFs open, Acrobat may offer Add open files.
- Set the order and remove unwanted content. Drag file thumbnails to change the order. Expand a file to view its pages, then drag page thumbnails to reorder them or remove pages and files you do not want in the final document.
- Check the sequence, then combine. Confirm the files and pages are in the intended reading order before selecting Combine in the upper-right.
- Name and save the result. Rename the merged PDF and choose where to save it.
These steps follow Adobe’s published desktop instructions: Combine or merge files into a single PDF. If you need to make changes after combining, Acrobat’s Organize pages tool can reorder or delete pages.

Choose the output size for your needs
Desktop Acrobat provides three output-size choices. The smaller setting trades image quality for a reduced file; the other choices retain source size and quality, with the larger option aimed at print conversion and potentially producing a bigger PDF.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Adobe recommends it for screen display, email, and the internet, not for preserving image detail.
- Default File Size: Retains the source PDFs’ file size and quality. Adobe describes this as suitable for reliable viewing and printing of business documents.
- Larger File Size: Uses a high-quality print conversion preset and retains source size and quality; the combined PDF may be larger.
Adobe describes these choices in its desktop combining instructions. Choose based on how the PDF will be used: a smaller attachment may be convenient, while detailed images or print output may call for a higher-quality setting.

Adobe’s 2026 PDF Pack FAQ gives a limit of up to 100 files combined at once, a maximum of 1,500 pages per combined PDF, and a 100 MB per-file conversion limit. Those are PDF Pack figures, not universal limits for every Acrobat product or plan. The FAQ says users with more than 100 files can combine batches of 100 or fewer and then combine the resulting PDFs, subject to the total-page limit. It also excludes secure, password-protected, 3D, and PDF Portfolio files. Check that these PDF Pack terms apply to your product and plan before relying on them: Adobe Acrobat FAQ.
