Clear cookies from the browser you use—not from a universal Windows setting. In Microsoft Edge, press Ctrl+Shift+Delete, choose a time range, select Cookies and other site data, then select Clear now. Chrome and Firefox have their own cookie controls.
Clear cookies in Microsoft Edge
These steps apply to Edge on Windows 10 and Windows 11. They remove cookies for the selected time range; clearing cookies signs you out of most websites. Microsoft’s Edge cookie instructions describe the same controls.

Remove data for one website
If only one site is causing trouble, you can delete that site’s data without clearing cookies everywhere. In Edge, open Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Cookies > See all cookies and site data. Search for the site, expand its entry, and choose Delete. See Microsoft’s instructions for viewing and deleting site cookies.

To make clearing recurring, go to Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Clear browsing data, select Choose what to clear every time you close the browser, and turn on Cookies and other site data. This setting clears those items when Edge closes and signs you out of most sites. Details are in Microsoft’s cookie guidance.

Know which devices are affected
If Edge sync is enabled, deleting synced browsing data can affect other synced devices. Microsoft distinguishes local browsing data from data removed through its privacy dashboard; deleting data through the dashboard does not delete it from the device. Check Microsoft’s guidance on Edge history and synced data if you need to control which devices are affected.
Clear cookies in Chrome or Firefox
Cookie controls are browser-specific, so clearing them in Edge does not clear them in Chrome or Firefox. Follow the current instructions for the browser you actually use:

What clearing cookies does—and does not do
Cookies are data websites store in your browser. Removing them is not the same as clearing all browsing data: Edge offers separate choices for items such as history, cached files, passwords, and autofill. Keep unrelated options unchecked if cookies are all you intend to remove. If you are troubleshooting one site, removing only that site’s data is a narrower option.
Blocking cookies is different from deleting existing ones. Microsoft warns that blocking cookies can prevent some pages from displaying correctly, so treat it as a compatibility trade-off, not an automatic next step after clearing data. See Microsoft’s explanation of cookie settings in Edge.

Troubleshoot common problems
- You are still signed in: Check that Cookies and other site data was selected and that the chosen time range includes the relevant cookies. Some sites may use other sign-in mechanisms, so clearing cookies does not guarantee that every site will ask you to log in again.
- Only one site is misbehaving: Delete that site’s entry in Edge’s cookie and site-data settings rather than clearing every site’s cookies.
- The menus do not match: Make sure you are in the browser where the problem occurs. Chrome and Firefox have different controls; their official help pages are linked above.
- Data disappears on another device: Check Edge sync and the scope of the deletion. Microsoft documents that synced items may be removed across synced devices.
- A page works worse after changing cookie settings: If you blocked cookies, allow them for the site or review the browser’s cookie controls; Microsoft notes that blocking can prevent some pages from displaying correctly.
Or skip the browser setup
If your goal is a clean screenshot rather than changing your own browser’s stored data, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request captures a page as PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. Its capture can accept cookie or consent banners and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before taking the shot; each step can be turned off.
Example using cURL (replace the URL with the page you want to capture):
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for setup and options. Bot checks and CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed; response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server offers take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.
